St Johnstone v Aberdeen, Saturday 23rd February 2019

Recommended Posts

The Westhill Kingsford Dons come to Perth on Saturday in an important match for both clubs.

Saints desperate to start putting points on the board after a poor run of defeats prior to the draw at Ibrox, and Aberdeen keen to bounce back after dropping points v the maureens.

I think Saints might have been a few points above Aberdeen when the clubs met in December, contrasting fortunes since then with Aberdeen pulling away.

No injury news as yet, but imagine Zander Clark will still be out, along with Drey Wright.  Unsure on how serious Tony Watt's injury was, but Brian Easton might well be back in contention for a place on the bench.

Expect we'll line up exactly the same as we did at Ibrox, with Kane the lone front man, as Tommy strives for continuity.

Blair Alston to be a threat from the bench, obviously...

Sit back and enjoy Scotland's goal of the season once more.  Could have had two penalties that day as well.

I’ve no idea how bad Shay’s injury is, but worryingly we could have a back four of Ball, Devlin, Considine and Lowe.

Really hope Logan is fit as thought of Ball at right back gives me the fear.

I'd like to see the same shape team but with Watt in for Kane and MOH for Wotherspoon, if available. It's at home and we should be up for it, so let's see the same attitute.

Looking forward to this one, sense a draw is on the cards though.

Tough call.

Whilst I agree Watt is a far better footballer, and Kane can be hugely frustrating with his, at times, poor first touch and constant falling over, he was very effective at Ibrox and played a big part in a few of our chances.

For me, we need to get back to players keeping a starting jersey If they play well to build form, so Kane to start.

It might well be similar to the game in December where we try to keep it tight for 65 minutes or so, then throw on a couple out of Alston/ Swanson/ Watt/ MOH (if fit) and tear them apart.

Shame McKenna isn't playing, as in the game at Pittodrie Kerr completely outshone him.  Would be good to see them on the same park again as a comparison, and a gauge of what Kerr is worth if McKenna is going to be sold for £8m or so.

Yup, starting eleven of recent times should be our "starting point", barring Clark replacing Bell.

If the players play well, they keep their spot, if people come off the bench and stand out, they find themselves in with a chance of starting.

No idea how Aberdeen have been playing, definitely a team we don't need to worry about though. Let's just do what we do and let McIness over think everything and come up with something mental.

Yeah, we never beat St Johnstone do we?

Bit defensive m8, I'm saying in terms of comparing games against Celtic, and Rangers at Ibrox, that Aberdeen at McDiarmid isn't exactly a worrying prospect.

Could see Ball coming in as part of a back 3 if Logan isn't fit.

Not really a fan of it personally although it worked at Hibs.

                               Lewis

               Ball Devlin Considine

GMS                                                       Lowe

         Ferguson   Shinnie Mcginn

                   Cosgrove Stewart

The above is a guess, and probably wouldn't work, but hey ho.

Don't feel great about this one.
