Queen's Park v Clyde

Recommended Posts

Good set of highlights. I think it probably is a foul by 4 on Banks even though he gets the ball but no more than that. Fitzpatrick's second miss in the first half is even worse than his first, not that it looked it at the time. Cuddihy gives the ball away too easily for the equaliser but Lang is badly at fault; no surprise he was outstanding again at centre half but when he finds himself doing the role of a full-back he falls asleep. Something he'll learn from no doubt.
Lang is out left because mcniff is nowhere to be seen like most of game , Stewart is obviously persona non grata another player being paid to sit on the bench joins a long list this season. How much wages have been pissed up against a wall this season on players signed and left sitting doing nothing or little or nothing

Lang lunged in to try and close down a player who posed no immediate goal threat rather than blocking the open passing lane to the eventual scorer, who the initial player passed to. The action which led directly to the goal was Lang's fault, but that we had found ourselves in that situation anyway was the result of a catalogue of other f**k-ups further forward/wide of that.

Stewart has played in most of our games lately and, although his absence in the past few games has been peculiar, it hardly makes him the same level of useless as Ross Lyon, for example. The sad fact is that we don't have the same resources as Peterhead and have to run with a smaller squad if we want a core of good quality players. We are short in a few areas and, as is the case for most teams at this level, we will need a bit of luck with injuries and suspensions if we are to gain promotion. Lennon sticking with good full-backs at full-back would help, too.

McNiff should obviously not be starting at left-back (Lennon seems to like the fact that he ends up in the box which is absolutely bizarre) but the goal is nowhere near being his fault.

Lang, rightly, ends up on the left. We're set up nicely here.

Rumsby slips but there's still no danger if not for the fact that Lang has came sprinting inside, following the ball.

Stewart should be playing simple as that
We have a squad of 22 which is a reasonable size but look at the season as a whole , wages have been wasted by Lennon on players he signed who have sat on the bench or the stand and if true had to be paid off to leave and left us with no option to sign back up for DGW At the end of the day we might go up and my argument will be academic (really hope that is the case )
Banks looks like a good addition to the squad and with DGW back should provide plenty ammunition for him

I thought we played well yesterday but a lack of a goalscorer other than DGW has cost us dearly

Totally agree. Stewart is weak aerially, though, and Annan's biggest threat is down the right-hand side, so I can understand why Lennon played McNiff there down in a game where we were pummelled by long balls. He may have thought the same would then happen vs Rovers and then QP, but those were clear miscalculations and it really inhibits the flow of our game having McNiff out there (as much as I rate him as a centre-back). It's a worrying trend Lennon has shown of trying to successfully deploy good ball-playing centre-backs at full-back (Cogill initially, Lang for a good amount of time and now McNiff), and it's always eventually cost us. We've lucked out big time with Cuddihy being such a stand-out on the right.

I will say again that we've been unlucky to have suffered three forward injuries at the same time, but realistically Fitzpatrick isn't up to scratch, or Millar, which leaves us with a squad of 20. Lyon, for me, hasn't shown anywhere near enough. Duffie is one I'm on the fence about; until recently I'd have happily seen him gone, but now that Lang is seemingly first-choice centre back we need some sort of passable cover on the right if Cuddihy is injured or required in midfield. There's no doubting that Lennon's recruitment this year has been very mixed, though. For every bit Rankin has excelled, Rumsby has been solid and Syvertsen has shown promise, we have seen varying types and levels of hilarity in situations and performances from the likes of Hopkirk, Belmokhtar, Ferns, Lyon and Gorman.

As a Huddersfield Town fan keeping an eye on Cogill and Boyle, I can't understand why your not using Boyle to his strengths. He's a set-piece specialist, a very technical player, completely under-used at Clyde. Rooting for you though, would like to see the lads progress.

I thought he'd have been on set pieces when he joined, as the YouTube video showed him scoring some toppers. Can't see why we don't try him on corners, as McStay's this season have mostly been useless

We do and it's OTT nonsense. You should ask the stewards why...every week we get different reasons

It's very inconsistent, some weeks they just wave you past while they only search away supporters, sometimes even when two or three of them are standing doing nothing they don't bother to search anyone (unless your carrying a bag), and other weeks they search everyone.

I must just have one of those faces then as every game I get it

Here's a couple of the worst reasons I've been given

"It's because of things happening around the world " .. oh well, that narrows it down

"Hampden is a high profile arena and terrorists attend smaller games to do research"... so basically they are looking for someone carrying a notepad and pen

Although when they pat you down it's the standard line of " Any bottles, cans, or any other alcohol on you sir"

I'd always have McKernon on the park. He's maybe not been at the level of his first spell, but he's a terrific midfielder on his day.

The only reason he was on the bench and not playing on Saturday was he was carrying a knock and hadn't trained all week. McLaren did well but I thought Gibby was great in the second half

That's strange. I just looked at our league results for that season. Played 36 - yup. Played Clyde 4 times (winning three and drawing 1) - yup. Oh, wait a minute. By any chance are you the only fan in Scotland who thinks that the league tables should be adjusted to include play-off results? Thought not. Next!

Oh dear! I was questioning the nomenclature of the fixture not the results of the regular meetings that season. Not trying to upset you, Sweet Pea, which clearly I have.

Someone had previously stated Clyde had not one a “league game” at Hampden since 2010. I was attempting to shed a little light hearted cheer to my fellow Clyde fans- blinkered and bitter as we all are!

Definitely 2 points dropped for us. 2 absolute sitters missed by Fitzpatrick which at least 1 of which Goodwillie would've buried. We should've been 2 or 3 up before QP equalised.

I thought McStay was really poor as well. He's a total hit or a miss for me. Either he's outstanding or completely pish. Shat out a 50/50 in the 2nd half too.

Banks looks promising. Weird decision not to shoot when he broke through but ended up winning a corner.

Stupidity cost us the equaliser.

Buzzing to have Goodie back and his class showed with the timing of his run and composure to round the keeper and slot home.

Ross Lyons offers the square root of f*ck all everytime he comes on. Can't believe he made it through Rangers' youth set-up to this age.

I know QP fans seem to like him but for me the centre half who missed the sitter at the end is one of the worst centre backs I've ever seen in this league, and that's saying something, we used to have Mark Casey in the same position!

What has happened to Alan Gow by the way? He looks a shadow of the player he used to be. He actually played like he couldn't be arsed on Saturday!

Thought Saturday was one of the more enjoyable games between us, especially at Hampden. The ref tried to let the game flow as much as possible which was refreshing at this level.

2 huge games coming up for us now. 6 points is a must.

Also, this is probably the least cringey Clyde vs QP thread ever so well done everyone!
