According to the 'Who's Who of Kilmarnock' by Bill Donnachie, Samuel Cowan  was an inside forward for Kilmarnock making 34 appearances and scoring 9 goals between  1949 and 1952.

He was 5ft 5in in height.

He made his debut against Albion Rovers on 10/9/49.   His career started at  Queen's Park before moving to Newton Stewart, Killie, Stranraer  and then Newton Stewart again.

In 1973 he was the Irvine Victoria manager.

Donnachie says he was 'a small, slightly built player, Sam was an inside-forward of the old school, crafty, scheming and a good finisher.

I'll have a wee look and see if I can find more about him.

The photos are also taken from these last two books. In the Queen’s Park photo you can see Sam is not wearing the strip but a suit with a handkerchief.  Also, the Kilmarnock photo shows him second from the right at the front.
