Club Licencing

Recommended Posts

Excellent stuff to see so many clubs obtain their licences after working hard, some things ain't cheap and there is always opposition to floodlights etc. All over a benefit to us fans with better facilities, let's use them in good numbers. Can't wait to return North in October, I hope.

Not quite EoS but since other non EoS clubs have been mentioned on here I'd like  say congratulations and well done to all at Wigtown & Bladnoch.

Another club who have managed to secure floodlights which couldnt have been easy in these troubled times.

I take it for granted down south from step 6 upwards, but to see so many Scottish clubs with possible lights, cover and seating available, is excellent stuff. Glad that clubs can find the £ along with grants etc in these difficult times. A pyramid in place and clubs modernising, well done to all clubs involved.

Auchinleck Talbot and Irvine Meadow have tweeted that their licence applications have been approved in the WOSFL, so I assume other applicants will also have been informed too.

Maybe a handful more across the country?

Looks like 9 or more newly licensed clubs ? After formal ratification on the 20th July, surely we can expect the SFA Cup Preliminary Round draw, to follow quickly.

And congratulations to Wigtown : your new lights look excellent.

Really good news so they join the other 8 clubs that have also gained their licence this time around.  16 out of the 18 Premier clubs are now licenced. Some transformation that with the remaining two clubs, Crossgates Primrose and Inverkeithing Hillside Swifts, also making plans to go for theirs. St Andrews Utd should be ready for next summer's round. Which other clubs will be looking to join in too?

I wonder if Creetown went for theirs this time round?

Well done Sauchie.  I’ve always been impressed by the setup on my visits there, not sure what improvements were required?

And the SFA still haven't updated their official list of licensed clubs.  Lazy ?

The SFA updated the list of licensed clubs, as at August 2021. However, Banks O'Dee and Golpie Sutherland were still listed under the "Other Clubs", whereas they are now  in the North Regional 'Junior' and the North Caley Leagues, both pyramid clubs at Tier 6.

As we are now in December, can any one give an update on their own club's progress in applying for a licence in 2022 ? For example :

* Armadale Thistle                                                                                                                                                               * St Andrews United                                                                                                                                                         * Hill of Beath Hawthorn                                                                                                                                                   * Irvine Meadow                                                                                                                                                                 * Lochee United                                                                                                                                                                 * Tweedmouth Rangers

and possibly Creetown ?

What is the deadline for submitting an application for 2022 ?

Hill of Beath has been licensed for several years.

Creetown, Irvine Meadow and Lochee Utd don't play in this league.

Everybody in promotion contention is licensed... indeed whole of Premier is (except Crossgates and Inverkeithing). For anybody else - the only 'deadline' as such would be the end of the season: i.e. in time to enter next season's Scottish Cup.

St Andrews are said to await final completion of their lighting.

Several more apparently advancing, including at least 2 or 3 others installing/reactivating lighting.

EDIT: While we're shedding light on the topic - worth remembering several other clubs already have completed lighting but aren't yet licensed owing to other aspects of their grounds or external factors e.g. Inverkeithing, Heriot-Watt Uni, Leith, Rosyth, Edinburgh South*, Bo'ness Athletic*, Edinburgh College, Syngenta* (*groundshare licensed venues).

St Andrews United recorded an average lux of 223 at the last count but only 0.2 min/max so adjustments are needed there (crazy level of 0.25 required).  One of the poles being too short is also causing issues.  On the plus side, the floodlight foundations passed an inspection last week, which was required to obtain a safe capacity certificate from Fife Council.  Everything else has been in place for a while but the most recent need to disclosure check despite not employing under 18s is an additional fankle.  The target now is to pass a full inspection in February.

When I was at Tweedmouth earlier in the season I had a lengthy conversation with a (very friendly) committee member and asked about licensing. He confirmed to me that they are aiming to get licensed, but he expects to still need some time to get floodlights and indicated it would be very unlikely to already be sorted this season.

Talking of THE DEVIL'S ILLUMINATION when Edinburgh City went for licencing we tested the light coming from the 100 foot high mighty erections at Meadowbank ourselves and found most of it went on the running tracks!

In the end the SFA inspector passed the quality of light and we got licenced...
