basher brash
To be honest it doesn’t matter if we win on Saturday because our away record is woeful and we are bound to slip up again, hats off to Arbroath they have proved worthy leaders and have a team that’s willing to fight with a bit of good football mixed in. Yes us Rover fans do harp on about full time because we have been badly let down by the team who are lacking the basic skills fight, determination and a grasp of decent set pieces shys and corners . Considering we have most of the week to prepare for a game and the rest of the league normally train a Tuesday and Thursday night we look no better than the rest which IMO has been a total waste of resources to an already cash strapped club. I will still back the club however I’m getting more frustrated with the standard of player we have at the club when I think if we pay the best part time wages to players we would probably have a better team

Ro Sham Bo
Now that we're into the final 3rd of the season I think our full time status will start to pay dividends.

farflung lichtie
I have refused to believe the league is over all season. Fully agree with this ..regardless of what happens these next two games. In the past 5 years alone, Arbroath have been both victims and beneficiaries of major turnarounds in the latter stages. We could not have dreamed of being so well placed at the outset but there’s more than a third of the season’s games to play (and many more points). Fans, or players/management looking further ahead seems to me inviting trouble not to mention setting us up for a potential reverse.Pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will. CALDERON
When we last met, and beat Arbroath, the gap was “down” to 10 points – and even then it was felt this was a long shot. However, the run of games between now and then was always going to be key. In order to catch them, it was vital that they dropped points, and we went on some kind of consistent winning run. We have won 1 league game since then, against Stenhousemuir. Lost 2 and drawn 2. Arbroath haven’t been terrible since then, but they have dropped enough points that we could have potentially made it a bit interesting. Even as recently as the Brechin game, a win would have put the gap to 10 with a free hit the next week to potentially bring it down to 7. All ifs and buts, but with Arbroath having been so invincible for so long, to say them display a little bit of weakness and end up further behind is pretty shit. It really does show that the main issues that have plagued this squad over the past few years still remain – mainly the absolute soft as shite mentality. Issues that I really thought Mcglynn would fix, but he hasn’t (Yet) and likely wont without significant overhaul of playing staff. Add to that the fact that he is sticking religiously with that defence, and this season is effectively now written off. This squad has shat it under any pressure – asking them to go through four playoff times is far too much. Also the loss of Vaughan is absolutely huge, as he was the one player of real quality. Nisbet has scored a lot of goals this season, but he’s not fit at the moment and is feeding off scraps. Arbroath will win the league as they are the best side in the league and the only side capable of going on a consistent winning run – which they have done. Absolute fair play to them. They can afford to drop a pretty significant amount of points, as there isn’t much in the sides below them and everyone will take points off everyone else. Its frustrating as at times we have played some pretty good football this season – at the time of writing we are the top scorers in the league (until Arbroath play tonight) yet have a goal difference of 9 worse off – but a shit defence wins nothing. R.R.FC
Both teams with 2 wins in 6 games now. Strange to see a 1st vs 2nd game where both sides are in such unconvincing form.

No wins in the 4 league games against East Fife as they storm through to take the title? That would be a new level in the recent Raith Rovers banter years. Can’t rule it out. foreverarover
9 ahead on GD is effectively a point as well. We need to win every game between now and the end of the season( unlikely as our biggest win streak this season is a whopping 2 games) and even if we were to manage that. I still can’t see Arbroath dropping enough points. If Arbroath lose the 4 games required and rovers win then those 9 goals of a difference will quickly disappear with just single goal loses. They’ve won 8 points from a possible 15 since then. If we hadn’t been such shite bags and managed to win all five games we could have drawn level with a win on Saturday. Arbroath have hit poor enough form for us to be right back in the race, we just haven’t done our bit. Mostly due to a shite defence.
