Peterhead vs Edinburgh City

Recommended Posts

The top two teams in the league meet at Balmoor on Saturday in the big game of the day.

Peterheid will want to win this one to close the gap on the league leaders down to one point.

If city can get the win, then they will be sitting in a great place on Saturday night.

Should be a good game.

The Big Spender derby.

That's right.  You're the guy that had us signing Gary Harkins and then also said "Edinburgh would have some impressive signings to look forward to in january!".

........Of course, we never signed anyone!  Big spenders that we are!

Anyway,  you might actually be right about a score draw  here.   Peterhead will want this,  but hopefully we've got enough to take something from the game.

As I understand it, finance was made available for a marquee capture but subsequent targets after Harkins weren't keen on the move, particularly towards the end of the window when you started to wobble a wee bit.

I'd say it's must-win for the Pilton Carthusians. If only to stave off the inevitable for a few weeks more. A Peterhead win would be much more welcome though.

Worst supported club paying the biggest wages with no history. Come on “The Heed” send this cartoon club down the road with nothing.

Edinburgh City were in the Scottish League while your club were East of Scotland League also rans.

Didn't Karl Marx talk about history repeating itself.... :whistle

The worst supported club in the league would probably be Albion Rovers or Cowdenbeath, Potato head but never mind.

No History?  Well 53 years actually and in the last 4 years won two lowland league titles and won promotion to the league. Not so bad really.

You should  be more concerned about your own team getting sent  down the road with nothing.

You’ve been bust more times than a pontoon table. Latest reincarnation was 86 I think.

A fan of those Platinum plated Kings of Northumberland Berwick Rangers F.C. slagging any club for going bust...

53? Are you going by when Postal United were founded thought it would be 90 since City were 1st formed in 1928.

Your right both Albion Rovers and Cowden have a lower league average - Rovers 276, Cowden 334 and City 353 his point is obviously about you being top of the table  with a low average crowd.

Postal United indeed!

No way of deciphering home and away from going through the same gates, but guessing a general average of away support, i'd say Edinburgh are slightly above Rovers and beneath Cowden in terms of home numbers. So much for our capital city requiring an 'alternative' team in order to change the footballing landscape, eh.

Postal United are an older club than Edinburgh City - founded around 1912. Wikipedia is wrong to say they were formed in 1966. They were in the Midweek Amateurs and the Caledonian Amateurs before joining the East of Scotland League. Even played in the Junior Cup in the mid 1920s.
