Dick told the players they dont get to magaluf if they get injured
Tbf, its just one of the little things throughout a season that make it a success.

Good first 11
Able replacements
Decent manager
A squad that RESPECTS the manager
A bit of luck with injuries/suspensions.

So far Arbroath are ticking all the boxes and it would take a massive amount of bad luck or complacency to throw this away now.

Winning this would be huge.

Would take all the pressure off going into next weeks game, imagine being 15 clear going into it.

Then if we could edge ourselves ahead in KDY too with this 15 point gap it would be really tough mentally on Raith. Uphill battle and a half.

If we are at a stage post Raith away where with 12 games to go we're 12 clear I'd be very happy with that position; would be disappointed if less than that and absolutely delighted if more.

The way I see it, win against Stranraer and there is absolutely no pressure on the Raith game. Don't win against Stranraer and suddenly we could be 'only' 9 ahead having not won for a month and things quickly begin to slip....

Wow,that's unbelievable.

Whatley picked up a knock earlier in the season and hasn't really featured since, as Gold has performed in his absence.

It's probably ironic that we've got the best squad depth probably in my lifetime yet have been very lucky that we've hardly been forced to utilise it.

..or the burden of psychology, an amazing and underrated element.

Wonder if Pink had observations on mentality and resilience in his session this evening?

so we got beat 2-0 at home against forfar but no changes in the back 4 but forgot we dont have anybody else to put these defenders under pressure to keep the shirt. seems there is pressure on midfield upfront perform or you lose the shirt but not in defence

We've lost two games all season, even if there were back up defenders on the bench it would be ridiculous to change the back 4

A settled defence is much more important than any other area of the team. We have a great back 5

DJ realistically isn't under any pressure either, should we sign another keeper too?

so you think lets say hammy has been playing well lately then

Hammy has had a few mares, Thomson was poor against Forfar too, but they've both had good seasons. Thomson has been excellent. I also don't think Hammy will be up to it in the Championship unless he becomes more consistent.

Point is having the pressure of defenders sitting on the bench wouldn't have changed or won't change anything going forward. We've nearly had a perfect season, everything's gone as good as it possibly could've. Seems like a pointless thing to start talking about now. It would be good to have some other options there but at the end of the day who really cares if we keep winning and getting results.

We've lost just 20 league goals all season, next best record is Raith who have conceded 30, 10 more!

My starting XI for Saturday :-

                      Jamieson

Thomson Little O'Brien Hammy

Gold McKenna Swankie Linn

             Wallace Spence

Also if things are not going well get Pongo on to unlock their defence.

Can't see Dick  picking McKenna and Swanks for centre mid, not an ounce of defensive help there, see Tam Scobbie to Brechin on loan

He doesn’t always get much support from the winger or even occasionally the midfielders ‘wingbacks’ as they used to call them. Hence often seems exposed but unfair not to consider the wider context. No such problem for the central defenders.

I worry about Hammy’s positioning. Feel he is dragged inside too easy and he is always susceptible to a ball over the top and in behind him.

Agree with this, but the same could said about Thomson
