RRFC vs. Forfar

Recommended Posts

Not far off. We didn't gel at all today and after a couple of narrow squeaks at going 0 2 up pops Bairdy. Cracking couple of goals in a poor match really.
Aye it wasn't the best. Fair play to you guys travelling in decent numbers and making a bit of noise.

For the umpteenth time this season, one long punt down the field results in us conceding a goal. Basics that you are taught as a kid - don’t let it bounce go and attack it, but Bene & Davo just stand there and watch scared to ruffle their hair, and Baird smashes it in. That centre half pairing needs changed pronto or next week they will get ripped to bits. However, I am sure McGlynn will come out and say we played well and we were unlucky - as the plumber at trade he reverts to in his interviews, when he can’t see the leaks!!!!

What a hit from Bairdy and Barjonas too tbf. Point serves Raith right for coming out 2nd half and kicking us off the park, not a good watch

This ^^^^^

There must have been instructions to come out and rough up Forfar in the second half.
Strange, as it wasn't a dirty first half and Raith were playing better than us. Happy that it didn't pay off.

Didn’t see anything particularly nasty at all, nothing that wasn’t in every other game. There was also a couple of fouls where Forfar players could have been booked and weren’t as well (the one on wedderburn for example). I think saying Rovers tried to rough up Forfar is an exaggeration.

Fair play to yous though, they soaked up Rovers’ pressure well and finished a chance brilliantly. A much improved performance from the one at Stark’s earlier in the season.

You’re surely not talking about the brilliant tackle by Barjonas that he ended up getting booked for?

Not disputing we should have had a yellow for the Wedderburn foul.
The majority of the fouls in the first half by both sides were run-of-the-mill stuff you see in every game, including a couple of potential bookings.

Second half wasn't so much nasty but sleekit trips and off-the-ball stuff. It was as if they were trying to get a reaction from our players. Not like we have any hot-headed players other than Easton but he wasn't even on when it started.

Just watched the interview the guy is lost. He would just aswell walk away what an absolute farce.

He’s quite rightly boiling with anger... his team have no back bone no wonder.

Why do we always await pressure every second half as if we are down to 10 men and holding onto a undeserved lead it’s chronic to watch.

That game should have been dead and buried yet we take our focus off the game and we are punished. Also how the f**k did we not score when we had 2 players with a simple task of tapping the ball in the net @ the 90th minute.

We played quite well on the whole, and should have put the game to bed.

That defence is complete and utter fucking shite though and McGlynn is completely ignoring it. Absolutely mental.

Taking Nisbet off was a disaster as well.

Nah, Gillespie's on Easton (who laughably managed to get booked too) and Duggan who amazingly escaped a yellow after two blatant trips and a push in the back all within about a minute. He'd previously been warned after an off-the-ball foul.

Or where the number 6 fell down to get Duggan booked?

Nah, your mistaking our number 6 with Wedderburn. What an absolute joke of a player. Does he actually manage to stay on his feet at all when he's challenged?
We aren't a big side and he spent the majority of the game on his arse.

As much as I was fine with bringing in Barjonas, Dingwall and to a lesser extent McGuffie, to concentrate solely on the midfield in terms of recruitment seemed odd, and cost us today.

Benedictus and Davidson aren’t doing it in the centre of defence, Crane hasn’t overly impressed me on the left, and Murray is far less impressive on the right than he was on the other flank.

Going forward, we’re probably in a better state than we were last term, but as today demonstrated for the umpteenth time, defensively we’re far weaker, and McGlynn hasn’t done much, (anything) to address it.

With a good defence behind them, that team in that shape sees out the game fairly comfortably, but we don’t have anything like a capable back four.

I hated watching Barry Smith’s team, I really did, and are we better to watch since McGlynn come in? Absolutely.

Are we a team that’s going to pick up more points because of it? Unfortunately, probably not.

I’m now not even sure we’ll finish second, which would be fairly extraordinarily, even taking into account that East Fife and Forfar are decent.

That’s not to say we couldn’t win the playoffs, if that Brechin team can then anybody could, but it’ll probably be down to the law of averages rather than anything else.

We are once again far too slow in possession. At times 7 or 8 passes leads to a closed down keeper having to punt a long one. Why will our defence not take the ball forward ? Even if they just play it up into the corners at least it makes the other team have to defend & most teams in this league ( including us ) don't cope with pressure or pace.

Being too slow in possession is not the reason we didn't take 3 points today. It's that bleeding awful defence.

Bring in Wedderburn and McKay and we'd lose less goals.
