Did you claim for the penalty when 10 dived in the first half? Did you claim for the freekick for your second goal?

The first obviously wasn't a foul and after watching the highlights I'm still not convinced the Falkirk boy didn't jump into our player as he'd lost the ball.

My point is, you seem to be putting the blame on referees when the players are the problem. They go down far too easily, the fans and players go apeshit wanting the foul, if the ref doesn't award it he's then slated for not giving anything.

I don't disagree with the point you're trying to make but I think it's wrong to suggest it's purely down to the officiating.

What highlights did you see the penalty incident in? Not ours and I don't see anything on the QOS site.

I think Petra was fouled just before Stirling caught him so the ref may have given it for that.

None, I was really close to it. He lost the ball then tumbled. I don't buy the earlier argument about how a player reacts as they normally always react like that. Jacobs was furious the other week for us and I'm still not convinced he was fouled.

Petra was stumbling as he was barged previously and looked out on his feet when he made contact with Stirling. I think if Stirling wasn't there, Petra wasn't getting the ball so it was a lucky break. Soft though IMO.

Apologies, misread your post as suggesting that you'd seen it in the highlights.

Canny really comment about the 'penalty' as I have no recollection of it at all.

A boiled egg, whether soft or hard is still a boiled egg. A foul is a foul whether soft or blatant...

To sum up, I think the referee was more than adequate in the game. Got the big decision (sending off) correct. Delaying restart of play for first & denying a promising attack for 2nd. Other than that he played no part in the outcome of the match. The scoreline totally flattered us but we still deserved to win and McKinnon's tactics and team selection was spot on. Worth the £60k fine :o

Better that than you sitting greeting into your XXL QoS top with Dobbie on the back thinking about your three hour trip back to the farm after getting horsed, imo.

Escorts are expensive up your way.

Petra didnt make contact with Stirling, it was the lunge from Stirling nowhere near the ball that made the contact. Its pretty black and white even in the highlights, ludicrous to say if Stirling wasnt there pretty much stating the obvious !!

Petra wouldve easily had the ball under control and done nothing with it, thanks to Stirling's lunge we got the foul and goal

Is there a reason you've kept a picture of a sheep for over 7 years?

To be fair that's some expression on the sheep's face.

Looks like he's thinking 'did yeh aye'

Wild that someone could think he saved that pic when the article was first published and didn't just search "falkirk sheep" into Google.

That’s exactly what I typed into google :thumsup2

Of course players have to take a decent amount of the blame but players will always take what they can get and things have now been allowed to go too far mainly due to the modern day rule interpretations and the way referees are being asked to referee games.   Its not easy to referee games in the modern era due to fat suits bringing in new law interpretations that no fan has ever been asked about.  Football used to be a black and white game easy to play and easy to officiate.  Now there are so many grey areas fans, officials and players have no idea at times whether fouls have been committed or not. Hand ball, offside, tackling all used to be simple and straightforward but its now all about interfering with play, hands in unnatural positions,  how much of the ball did the player get in a tackle and was he endangering the opposition player.  All utter bullshit.  Now a days its deemed ok for a player to fall over if there is contact no matter how soft the contact is. Instead of clamping down on this its being encouraged as part of the modern game when to me it was far better when players tried to stay on their feet and tried to beat players through skill and ability rather than looking for fouls. Grappling in the box has gone so far that they now know that it would take weeks of giving out penalties galore to get it back under control something they are unwilling to do. Of course we are all now conditioned to shout for fouls every time a player goes down or gets the ball thumped off his hand from too yards away. Refs are no longer allowed to use common sense when officiating for fear of demotion and this has resulted in robotic officials unwilling to confer with the players under their control.  We used to give the likes of Willie Young etc grief when they officiated but god it was far better in those days when refs could react to the situation and have a blether and a laugh. Call me old fashioned but the modern day game isnt a patch on the one I was brought up watching.
