Falkirk v Queens

Recommended Posts

What impressed me about Edge was his movement at corners, actively looking to get on the ball and score. Makes a change from lumping it at a group of players and hoping it bounces off one into the net.

Why will DKD be out next week? It was only two yellows, not a straight red for violent conduct.

Isn’t any sending off an automatic one match ban and if it’s a straight red for violent conduct two matches automatically missed?

Red card you automatically miss the next game two yellows or straight red.

I beg to differ.

Another rotten result against a team that's been struggling.

Not really. That team haven’t been together long enough to struggle.

Ref was absolutely appalling.  Didn’t matter though.
Goal, clean sheet and MotM on his debut - I think I may be in love with the Edge.  I’ve never changed my mind about someone so quickly.

Totally agree with all of this.
I thought the Edge looked nervous in the first half and that was leading to a few stray passes. He was too slow to release and the opposition took advantage. However he defended impressively otherwise and the goal was a thing of beauty.....

Good win today with everyone putting in a good shift. Three well worked goals and Queens didn't really fashion a chance of note until late on in the game. Dixon was probably MotM for me, DKD was good and a pretty decent debut for the Edjenguele. Osman beginning to look a bit sharper now and good to see McGhee getting himself forward at every opportunity to support Paton. Not much came off for Rudden today but ran himself in to the ground as usual and nearly got himself a goal when chasing down that loose ball. The second yellow card for DKD was unbelievably harsh and summed up the referees totally incompetent performance. He was even worse than Andrew Dallas ffs. The booking for Rudden when Dobbie fell over was just as bad  Hope we don't have him again for a while

All credit to Falkirk today. Hugely improved since our last meeting. We had loads of possession especially 2nd half but I never really felt we were going to do much with it.  Falkirk defence marshalled Dykes and Dobbie very well and I was very impressed by Burgoyne as keeper. Brilliant safe to deny Dobbie and looked assured pretty much throughout.

Can`t agree with those complaining about the red card. 2 absolute stick on yellow cards and in all honesty before those he should have been booked first half when he pulled Jacobs back to halt a QOS breakaway. Stupid from the guy but the red card was correct. Looks a decent player too.

The 3rd Falkirk goal absolutely killed us. If we could have got it back to 2-1 then given Falkirk`s league position the last 10 minutes would have been interesting. Wasn`t to be though and no complaints from me, a well deserved 3 points for Falkirk

Been together long enough to be unbeaten with 2 wins to nil tho

Maybe that’s the definition of “struggle” in Dumfries.

Well beaten today, at no point did we really look like scoring. Thought the Falkirk defence really kept us at bay. Yeh Falkirk were a bit dirty to say the least. The second goal came from the idiot ref giving an imaginery foul. Slightly disappointed in Aird and Wilson and didn’t seem to be an improvement on Murray. Oh well,  hopefully regroup and better days ahead.

Can`t agree at all that Falkirk were dirty.

The ref gave some poor decisions against both teams. We just have to defend a free kick better than that.

Wilson and Aird are both upgrades on Murray IMHO.

Agree we were well beaten and didn`t threaten much  though keeper`s save from Dobbie was excellent TBF

I thought Falkirk effectively stopped us counter attacking on a few occasions by committing soft fouls on half way. Felt the ref could potentially have been stronger and used his cards, but seemed reluctant in the first half.

Some would say that's dirty, I quite appreciate it as a tactic, tbh.

That was incredibly harsh
Well that was excellent. Queens could have played until Monday and not scored. The doppelgänger pretending to be Dobbie can let the real one return now. Ref was unbelievably bad. The first wasn’t a yellow and the second was harsh. Excellent win though, signings looked good.
Ref useless as usual, Rudden had to be subbed before the clown sent him off. Couldn’t get the cards out his pocket quick enough. Week after week we get incompetent officials. They want players to respect them, they need to start by doing their job properly.

I assume you missed the 3 yellow card incidents before his first yellow? The only shocking thing about him being sent off was that it took so long for the ref to do it.

Really? Aird took players on, I can't recall Murray ever doing that. He's a considerable upgrade on him and actually had a decent game. Unfortunately there was never anyone on the end of his decent crosses. A couple of chances had as well. Hopefully he'll start taking them with match sharpness.

Falkirk thoroughly deserved their win even if the scoreline flattered them. Crosses once again our downfall. No idea how the ref perceived the foul on Stirling as a Falkirk free-kick. At 2-0 it was over.

Dykes was poor today and it shows how good he is for us that we were poorer overall going forward because of it. I thought Aird, Stirling and Dobbie all had decent games but just never clicked together with Dykes missing. I noticed he was very deep today even when we were attacking and needed height in the box. Tactical or he was knackered?

Maguire was shaky in the first half but better in the second. There weren't any really shocking performances which makes it all the more frustrating. Falkirk just sat in and it worked for them as we couldn't cut them open.

I thought when Falkirk went down to 10 GN might have gambled and put McGrath on. I found it strange it was Murray who came on.

We really need Low back. We're such a better side with him in there. Not angry tonight, just frustrated. 9 points taken off us from Thistle and Falkirk is hard to take when the top two have struggled to put a glove on us.

Must do better against Aberdeen.

Seriously? The ref dished out six cards and a red today in a game you’re granny could have managed.

Truely shocking performance by Gavin Duncan.

It was never a 3-0 game but Falkirk were better than us at both ends of the pitch.

Falkirk had very little forward play and yet scored 3 goals. We had loads of the ball, plenty of attacks but never really looked like scoring.

Falkirk deserved the win and it will be interesting to see if they can mount a concerted recovery. Not an easy thing to do in this league.

We have had a lot of draws over course of season and three defeats against Alloa, Thistle and now Falkirk in past few weeks. We are only 9 points above bottom spot so not exactly an insurmountable gap.

And they were all in the second half. There were at least 2 fouls that were the definition of "stopping a promising attack" in the first half, and should have been worthy of cautions.

Queens continue their Jekyll and Hyde season, either brilliant or rubbish, with not much in between. Thought it couldn’t get much worse than Partick last Saturday. I was wrong.

Falkirk were much improved from the last game at the Falkirk stadium, and McShane had a good game for them, but the Queens defence was absolutely woeful. Two inexcusable free headers for the first two goals, with the parting of the Red Sea for the third, our central defence looked vulnerable all match. Some of the individual errors were almost comical. Maguire gave the ball away with a careless pass that almost cost us a goal in the first half, just as a similar mistake almost cost us at Thistle. There was a moment when Jordan Marshall managed to dispossess himself while cantering up the left flank in acres of space, and Fordyce had several moments that won’t make his season’s highlights reel. Alan Martin managed to utterly fluff his lines when rushing out for the ball in the second half, the defender (Fordyce?) getting in his way, with no communication between them, but he recovered to make an unlikely save.

We weren’t great in midfield either. Wilson is a big unit, but looked a bit lost for most of the first half, though he did better in the second. Aird’s final ball was invariably poor, hope he was just having an off day. He did have one good interchange with Dobbie, coming into the box from the left flank, but spooned the ball into orbit when well placed to score. Jacobs did ok, but had a few shots in the second half that were nosebleed stuff - either ballooning it way over the bar when well placed or trundling his effort ineffectually past the post. Dykes looked strangely disengaged for much of the game I thought, not really getting up with play when we were attacking or making much of an impression in a deeper role. Dobbie looked in the mood at the start with a snap shot from the edge of the box nearly catching out the Falkirk keeper, and he should have done better with a clear sight of goal in the second, though the keeper made a decent save. Other than that, we rarely looked like scoring.

I think I need to stop going for a while. Was at Partick where we were dreadful, then missed the Dundee replay where we were by all acoounts excellent, and back today for what must be the worst display of the season (or certainly up there with Alloa away and East Fife away, both of which I saw too). No idea what to expect when Queens take to the park. Inspired or atrocious seem to be our default settings.

Didn't think Aird's balls were bad, there was never anyone making an attempt to get on the end of them. It wasn't unique to him. In the second half Marshall did well to get by two players and somehow sneak a cross in before the ball went out. One man in the box for us. At 3-0 Dobbie put a ball in and I counted 6 Falkirk jerseys with no QoS one in sight. There were numerous crosses from us today where there were no QoS players to be seen.
