Went into the Black Bull boozer in the main street, and my entrance was greeted like that of those two Americans walking into the Slaughtered Lamb in American Werewolf in London - if there had been a pool table the balls would have stopped rolling. Got a pint up anyway, and eventually a wee Captain Mainwaring lookalike local detached himself from the other end of the bar, sidled up to me and uttered the immortal question: “Just passing through?” I get the impression it’s one of those places you could live in for 20 years and still be the new guy.
