lichtie23
So am I right in saying the only Brits left in are Dan Evans, Miss Boulter and Jo Konta?
TheScarf
Indeed. Is this the first time since Andy turned pro another British male player has got further in a GS than him? That's even taking into account Henman and Gregory Rus?
Loki
The French Open 2006 (Tim Henman got further than him.) is the only occurrence of a British player getting further than him until this latest Australian Open.
JamieStevenson
Incredible action in the first set of Evans vs Federer. The GOAT steals it.

JamieStevenson
Play has stopped briefly in a tightly contested match between Wawrinka & Raonic due to someone in the crowd taking ill. They seem to be alright and are now being attended to. Match to continue.

Ro Sham Bo
All British representatives out before round 3. It's like we've gone back in time 25 years or so.
peasy23
Konta v Muguruza still playing at 02:50 in the morning in Melbourne [emoji38] Surprised that the game was allowed to start (started at roughly half past midnight), had just assumed that no game would ever start after midnightHeard the tennis show on 5 live last night, it was a new record for the latest ever start to a match in Melbourne. The consensus on the show is that if the 3rd set tiebreak hadn't been introduced then it would probably have been held over until the next day. The fact they knew it could only go so long possibly made the difference in making them play it. Kim Clijsters is on the show, and she thought it was very unfair to keep the 2 players waiting until then. Edit to add: They were going to move it to another court, but couldn't because that court had a load of seagull shite on it.

John Lambies Doos
Seeing what bautista is doing again today against Cilic, all the 5 setters etc; just shows the level that Murray can still compete at. He clearly ran out of match fitness, but I still think with training he could go very deep in these tournaments. Obviously we can't expect him to play with the pain etc but he's still an amazing player. Selfishly I wish he would get the next op. The rest he will have had on rest of his body could give him another 2 yrs at high level if he picks his tournaments carefully

It's a catch 22 for him at the moment, he doesn't have the match fitness because he can't win any games, but if he had won on Monday he would never have been in any sort of condition to play the next match anyway. He was in so much pain he had to delay his flight home by a day or two.
