A ball two feet from an empty net where Dougie instead of tapping it in accidentally stood on the ball, fell over and managed to deflect it off himself around the post. Couldn't have managed it if he tried.

3 Valuable Points
I’m sure George Connelly, ex Celtic, played in that game. He subsequently signed for Sauchie and played for them a few times against BU.
Jambo'ness
Oct 18th 1958 and a Thornton Shield tie at home to Linlithgow Rose. The headline said it all "Scott mesmerises Linlithgow". The star was Jim Scott, who created three of the four first half goals. George Addison got two, Matt Cummings and Ian Paterson added the others. United eased off after this and the Rose were grateful to reach the break. The Rose made a better fist of it after half-time and pulled back three goals, only for David Sinclair to kill them off. Tragedy then struck as Matt Cummings again scored but broke his leg colliding with the 'keeper. 6-3 to the BU's! Jambo'ness
Oct 19th 1946 and Newtown witnessed an incredible match in front of 5000 fans. It was a replay in the 2nd round of the Junior Cup., against Dundonald Bluebell. The 'bell shocked the BU's with two goals in the first 5 mins. Willie Dickson reduced the leeway, only for the 'bell to restore their 2 goal lead and only 12 mins gone. A penalty made it 4 and only a great goal before the break by Willie Pryde kept us in it. Jim McLean scored early in the 2nd half but the 'bell soon restored the 2 goal difference. Pryde scored with 10 mins left and the same player was then fouled in the box, allowing John McGowan to make it 5-5! The team was: McKinnon, W. Mitchell, Keenan, Plumb, Stewart, Brash, McGowan, McKie, Dickson, Pryde, McLean
Jambo'ness
Oct 20th 2012 and Junior Cup 2nd round visitors were Portgordon Victoria, a first meeting between the sides. The Vics side was a young one and despite the odds against them, played gamely. Chris Hamilton scored a 1st half hat-trick and Chris Donnelly completed his treble by the 77th minute. Trumping them both was Steve Hislop, who netted five in a 16 minute spell in the 2nd half! The Vics managed a consolation 5 mins from the end that received a warm cheer but it finished 11-1 to the BU's.
