1974 and a first visit in 21 years from Polkemmet Jnrs, sadly no longer on the scene.  Their visit in 1953 had seen us score 9, this time it was 8-0.  Ian Miller got himself a hat-trick and big George Squair grabbed a brace.  John Buckley, Doug Raeburn & Tom Balanowski completed the scoring.

The team was (incomplete): Ritchie, Miller, I McQueen, Scott, Raeburn, T Balanowski, Squair, Buckley, S Frickleton

1947 and in front of 4000 at Newtown, the BU's climbed to the top of the table.  Willie Wilson netted in a tight first half but John Currie banged in 4 in the 2nd half to complete an emphatic 5-0 win against Newtongrange Star.  Trialist winger Warwick Black was signed after the match.

The team was: Graham, Mitchell, Keenan, Hogg, Swan, McKie, Wilson, Pinkerton, Currie, Dunsmore, Black

With gates like that  every second  week with today's admission charges, the club  could be bidding for Morelos.

1956 and the Junior Cup campaign started with a match at West Calder.  The locals were in good form, so the BU's 5-1 was a trifle unexpected.  Star of the show was Angus Collins who not only managed his first goal for the club but secured a hat-trick too!  Jim Glennon and a John Hall penalty completed the scoring.

The team was: Ronald, Taggart, Hall, Collumbine, McBlain, Higney, Young, Collins, Glennon, Hunter, Ormond

A wee Sunday teaser for you to get you thinking.  On this day in 2012 we went to St Andrews and won 6-1.  The attack excelled that day but can you name the back four?

1967 saw a match in that long-gone tournament, the Lanark & Lothians Cup.  The visitors to Newtown for the first leg were Uddingston side Tannochside Recreation.  The BU's swept them away by 6-0 through six different scorers.  Ian McQueen started it off before the Rec unfortunately conceded an own goal.  John Sneddon, Brian Watson & Frank Heenan all scored before Joe McMeechan completed the misery for the visitors.

The team was: Boslem, Simpson, McCandless, McMeechan, Gray, McQueen, Bernard, Heenan, McGuire, J Sneddon, Watson

Hurrah.

2012/2013 was a season when even by our standards we had a great turnover of players. …………..head spinning at the time but the following season all the pieces were in place to win the East Superleague. Oh happy days.

Indeed Dave.  We used an astonishing 33 players that season.  This year, we have used 18 so far.
