A wee teaser for you today.  In 2010, we defeated Fauldhouse 3-2 in a League Cup match at Newtown.  One of our scorers was a trialist.  Can you name him?

Darren Gribben?

Another of those names that has been mentioned on here before

Brian Carrigan.

(Was my original answer but didn’t think he’d be a trialist)

Yes John, can remember Frankie. Played mostly at centre forward and scored a good lot of goals for the BU's.

Heard he was not much of a singer though.

Frankie was signed in 1961 from Broomhall Juvs and in 61/2 scored 14 in 16 games.  His appearances the following season were fewer, 6 games and 4 goals and he left for Grangemouth United at the end of 1962

An Easy teaser today.  What unusual event happened this day in 2013?  St Andrews was our destination.

Team bus broke down outside Cupar and players were picked up by supporters bus?

Certainly, the team bus broke down, which led to a late kick-off.  Not sure if picked up by Supporters Club as it was a full bus that day.  Remember feeling distinctly unchuffed when I couldn't get on.  Got a last-minute lift and expected to miss first 20 mins but got there for kick-off due to break down.

1951 now and a crowd of over 2000 at Newtown saw Linlithgow brushed aside in the first half, as the homesters went in 3 goals up.  The BU's took the foot off the the gas after the break and the score finished 3-0.  Jackie Liddell banged in a couple and was denied a hat-trick by an upright.  Bobby Walker, recently signed from Stirling Albion got the other.

The team was: Smith, Mitchell, McKeeman, Neillands, Fitzgerald, McKie, McKinnon, Liddell, Walker, Hall, Lafferty

Teaser today.  Which newly-signed midfielder made his debut in a 3-2 win over Edinburgh United in a League Cup tie in 2010?

There seemed to be dozens of players signed every season back then lol, I'll take a stab in the dark and go for Barry Donald?

Aye, was like we had a revolving door at Newtown for a couple of seasons back then.

Can safely say, this player played a big part in our success that season, playing 30 games.
