Jambo'ness
Now for a match in a competition only played for once. The Coronation Cup in 1953! The first round against Linlithgow Rose was over two legs but the tie was effectively won in the first leg at Prestonfield, as the BU's cruised to a 3-0 win. Former Rose player J Grant netted a double with Alex Grieve scoring the other. The team was: Ronald, Mitchell, McKeeman, Hogg, McBlain, Paterson, McAra, Grant, Grieve, Simpson, Ross, McLeod

Alex Walls came to BU's from Fauldhouse Un. and moved to Leith Ath. So different Walls. Thanks for info, I seem to remember seeing a Scottish cap in a display many years ago and allegedly it was his but how it came to be with other KR memorabilia I wouldn't know. Some of it has ended up in the custody of North Lanarkshire council so may be lost in their archives somewhere. Our player Walls, was definitely an Arthur so not the same guy.

Jambo'ness
1947 and a crowd of 46, 000 at Ibrox Park on a Saturday evening, witnessed the Junior Cup semi-final replay with Renfrew. The 2-2 draw the previous week at Easter Road had whetted the fans' appetite and they weren't disappointed. Again the sides could not be separated at 1-1, though the BU's did have a goal ruled out for offside that was hotly contested. Willie Dickson was the scorer on the day. The team was: Stanners, W. Mitchell, Brash, Paton, Stewart, McKie, McGowan, Dickson, McLean, Pryde, Mills
Jambo'ness
For today's teaser there are two parts. Fairly recently, back in 2017, the BU's were 6-1 winners on this day. But which future BU player scored for the opposition and which past BU player saw the red card for them? (keeping the opposition name quiet to stop it being too easy).

8MileBU
Fauldhouse, Jon Connolly got sent off and Scott Sally scored for them. It was JC’s retirement game as well. I know JC holds the memory of that game dear though as despite BU being in a comfortable lead, the ref was having a ‘mare and literally everyone at Newtown thought the red card was an utter joke to the point it was hilarious, and everyone gave the big man a tremendous ovation as he made his way off the park.

Only recollections even though it wasn't long ago was the Fauldhouse goal, a cracker, and JC shouting at the ref and somehow getting sent off and the subsequent applause as it was his retirement match. Couldn't even tell you who scored for us!

He was just a trialist.
