1945 and the BU's were missing 4 players for their match at Alva Albion Rangers.  Not through injury but the breakdown of the car carrying them!  Goals from John McGowan and the trialist centre-forward gave the BU's a comfortable lead at the break.  The 2nd half saw seven scored, four by the BU's.  Another by the newman, two from Jim McLean and one from Bobby Gibb 6-3

The team was: Bennie, Reilly, Speakman, Trialist, Potter, Reynolds, McGowan, McKay, Trialist, Gibb, McLean

Have heard about this game and apparently committee men had to fill in. The centre half was Dick Potter the then club secretary, but don't know the others.

Back to 1961 and the one and only meeting with Perthshire minnows Alyth United in the Junior Cup 2nd Round.  After a hard-fought game the BU's triumphed 3-2.  The goals were scored by Joe Donlevy, Sam Batchelor & Jimmy Blevins.

The team was: McNairn, Kemp, Stirling, Veitch, Scott, Jackson, Blevins, Birrell, Batchelor, Cram, Donlevy

Apart from the two listed trialists and Potter, everyone else played a few games that season.  So I assume the trialists were committee men

2016 and a low point in the relationship with the SJFA.  The setting was a Junior Cup 3rd Round replay at home to Blantyre Victoria.  The match itself finished 2-2 after goals by Ross Campbell & Fraser Keast.  It was then that the farce started.  The referee, despite being urged otherwise to go straight to penalties, as per the rules, decided to play extra-time.  After the first 15 mins and darkness descending, he then chose to go to penalties.  The BU's lost 4-3 but most fans expected the result to be nullified due to the error made by the ref.  An appeal was made but amazingly dismissed.

The team was: Clark, Gemmell, Devine (Snowdon), Campbell, Hunter, Ru McLennan (Wright), Strickland, Philp, Keast, Simpson, Rod McLennan (Sloan)

That should have been the end of our relationship with Junior football, from that moment on any credibility in staying junior was gone for me personally

Likewise. That game was the beginning of the end with the Juniors without a doubt. Would go as far as to say I probably wouldn’t still be attending every week if we’d stayed Junior.

2004 and Beechwood Park was the venue for a Junior Cup 3rd Round match-up with Auchinleck Talbot.  An interesting game on a heavy pitch came to life 3 mins into the 2nd half when George O'Boyle converted a Dolan cross from close-in.  The BU's only held the lead for 7 mins however. 1-1 the final score.

The team was: Cairns, Burrows (Foster), Russell, C Martin, Vella, Murphy, Mooney, Donnelly, J Martin, O'Boyle, Dolan (Shirra)

1964 and the Junior Cup saw the BU's travel to Olive Bank, to play old foes Musselburgh Athletic.  Perhaps surprisingly, the BU's strolled to a 4-1 win.  Archie Meikle struck twice, Sandy Myles netted from the spot and Allan McManus completed the scoring,

The team was: Allan, Bellamy, Kennedy, Myles, Chambers, Cairns, Craig, Buchan, Meikle, Young, McManus.

1947 and a League trip to the Memorial Ground to play Loanhead Mayflower.  John Currie netted twice in the 1st half.  He went on to complete his hat-trick, making it 11 in 8 games for the centre forward.  The trialist scored in the 32nd minute, then 6 mins later at 3.55pm the ref abandoned the game due to failing light 4-0  Subsequently, the League awarded the points to the BU's.

The team was: Graham, Mitchell, Keenan, Walls, Swan, McKie, Wilson, Pinkerton, Currie, Newman, Black

1968 and the BU's continued their blistering start to the League season, winning their 7th match on the trot, away to Fauldhouse United by 5-1.  The surprising star was young John Bell, who netted a hat-trick, his first goals for the club.  Bobby Nisbet and Ian Wodecki got the others.

The team was: Hodge, McCandless, Makarus, McQueen, Hamilton, Donnelly, Bernard, Nisbet, Wodecki, Myles, Bell

Guess this thread is probably the best place to put this question, who makes your Team of the Decade? Had a good chat about this today with Jambo and Dave and we came up with a

4-3-3 of

Murphy/Jamieson

Snowdon Duffin McQueen Hunter

Shirra Gemmell Sloan

Walker Hislop Gribben

Never decided on a bench, but personally I would have one of the two keepers above plus, Stevenson, Campbell, Wright, Keast.

1984 and just 3 weeks after the pair met in the drawn League Cup Final, The BU's travelled to Bonnyrigg for the replay.  The first game was 4-4, this went one better and finished 5-5!  The game was decided by penalties and the Rose triumphed 4-3.  The BU scorers were Tommy Caldwell, Lex Shields, Lindsay Hamilton and Jim Sinnet, who scored two including a penalty.

The team was: Henderson, Dunleavie, Breen, Carroll, Caldwell, Reid, Shields, Beaton, Sinnet, Hamilton, Robertson (Kerr) sub Young

1978 and a one and only visit to Market Park, home of Crieff Earngrove for a Junior Cup 2nd Round tie.  The BU's had struggled against Arbroath Vics in the previous round and did so again, only managing a goalless draw.  There was no hint the club would reach the Final that season.

The team was: Howie, Robertson, McQueen, Miller, Stewart, Boyd, Craw, Masterton, Eddie, Reid, Shields (Dunleavie) sub Millar

Wullie, I was pushing for Hunter at Centrehalf rather than Left Back. Flea in at Left Back.
Hissy9 out with Faddy in at no 9.

Seing as 433 is what everyone else has went with. Peak Shirra, just, over Nimmo as he was more of a goal threat, no one season wonders or I'd have Scott Pittman there as he was a fabulous player.
