1950 and the report stated it was like the old times at Newtown.  After 5 years existence, that was some statement.  The visitors were Rosewell Rosedale, who were on the end of an 8-0 hiding.  The opener was an own goal from Griffin.  Two goals arrived around 20 mins, both headers, from Willie Dunlop & Willie Gardiner.  The latter added another two before the half-hour to complete his hat-trick..  John Steedman added a sixth.  Smith scored number seven right on half-time.  The 2nd half was all about the 'dale keeping the score down, which they managed, only Dunlop managing to score.

The team was: Foote, Tennant, McKeeman, Hogg, Thomson, McKie, Dunlop, Stirling, Gardiner, Steedman, Smith

2011 and it was Scottish Cup day, as Whitehill Welfare were the visitors.  The BU's benefitted from an early Stephen Tarditi volley that put them ahead.   The same player got a vital second goal on 72 mins after a Nimmo cut-back.  A few minutes later, Welfare got a lifeline through a penalty goal and the last minutes were nerve-wracking as usual.

The team was: Christie, Snowdon, McLaren, Gibb, Hunter, Nimmo (Hay), Walker, Shields, Tarditi (Reilly), Duffy, Donnelly

2010 and the BU's played their very first senior Scottish Cup-tie at Newtown.  The reward for crushing Selkirk in Round 1 was a visit from Queen's Park.  A large crowd witnessed a classic cup comeback, as the BU's clinched a 2-1 victory.  The visitors had taken an early lead and the cup dream was looking shaky.  Gradually the BU's played themselves into the game but without reward.  Then, with the break approaching, a penalty was awarded for a push in the box.  Derek Fleming converted.  With 15 mins left, Fleming set up Paul Shields to score from a narrow angle and send the home fans crazy.

The team was: McGurk, Snowdon, Fleming, Duffin, Forrest, Fraser, Carroll, Shirra (Donald), Shields (McFadyen), Walker, Donnelly

2009 and a fantastic result at Thomson Park, home of Lochee United, as the BU's trounced the home team 5-1.  On a wet & windy day, Paul Shields notched an early goal.  Then Greg Kirk got into a mix-up with his 'keeper and scored an og.  The home team were reduced to 10 men before Shields scored his 2nd of the game.  Lochee kept trying and reduced the deficit just after the hour but that just spurred the BU's on and Derek Fleming scored a 4th.  Late on Nicky Walker made it five.

The team was: Longmuir, Snowdon, Fleming (Kiczynski), Forrest, Duffin, D Morrison, G Brown, Shirra, Shields (McFadyen), Gribben (Walker), Ballantine

1975 and the BU's set themselves up for a League double over rivals Linlithgow Rose by 3-2.  A large crowd saw a stirring game.  It was the Rose who opened the scoring but the BU's took only 3 mins to get level as Scobie was chopped down in the box. Doug McIntosh did the needful from the spot..  The Rose surprised the home team by going ahead by the break.  The 2nd half was even more hectic as the BU's took a grip of the game, firstly being denied a clear handball by Frew.  Billy Mitchell finally got a deserved equaliser, then with time running out, Tom Balanowski got a deserved winner.

The team was: McBain, J McQueen, McGuinness, McIntosh, McGeachie, I McQueen, Scobie, Balanowski, Mitchell, Temperley, Taylor subs Anderson, Purdie

1946 and the 2nd replay of the Junior Cup tie with Dundonald Bluebell.  A toss of the coin resulted in the match being held at East End Park, Dunfermline.  A crowd of 5000 attended, including a special train load of 1239 from Bo'ness.  The previous week saw McKinnon play his last game, now Bennie took over in goal.  Willie Dickson headed an early goal to put the BU's ahead for the first time in the three games.  He clinched the game on 20 minutes with yet another header.  2-0 final score.

The team was: Bennie, W. Mitchell, Keenan, Plumb, Stewart, Brash, McGowan, Pryde, Dickson, McKie, McLean
