Jambo'ness
Oct 7th 1967 saw a match in that long-gone tournament, the Lanark & Lothians Cup. The visitors to Newtown for the first leg were Uddingston side Tannochside Recreation. The BU's swept them away by 6-0 through six different scorers. Ian McQueen started it off before the Rec unfortunately conceded an own goal. John Sneddon, Brian Watson & Frank Heenan all scored before Joe McMeechan completed the misery for the visitors. The team was: Boslem, Simpson, McCandless, McMeechan, Gray, McQueen, Bernard, Heenan, McGuire, J Sneddon, Watson

Hurrah. 2012/2013 was a season when even by our standards we had a great turnover of players. …………..head spinning at the time but the following season all the pieces were in place to win the East Superleague. Oh happy days.

Jambo'ness
Oct 8th 1949 and I never tire of the headline from the Journal "Linlithgow trounced in seven goal rout. This was the first visit by the Rose to Newtown Park and the BU's completed the League double early in the season. Laurie Higgins & Jimmy Walsh put the BU's 2 up at the break. Jimmy Sproull got a third just after the hour before Lannin weighed in with a double, his only goals for the club. Sproull added a penalty before Willie Morrison made it 7-0 with a "Gordon Smith effort" 5 mins from time. The team was: Graham, Mitchell, Keenan, Jamieson, Dick, Rodgers, Morrison, Sproull, Lannin, Walsh, Higgins
Jambo'ness
Here's an annoying wee teaser for you. On this day, the BU's have played 4 matches in the Junior Cup, 3 wins and a draw. Can you name the opponents? Two clues 1) All clubs still alive 2) Three of the four now in the EOS.
