Bo'ness history - Day by day

Recommended Posts

I am flying out in the early hours of Monday morning to Malta for 10 days but fear not faithful followers, as Scuzz will be posting on here as well as on the clubs official feeds.
I have prepared some crackers for him and the one tomorrow will be most interesting.
Have a good break

1949 and the Junior Cup began with an easy 3-1 win over Kelty Rangers at home.  Jimmy Walsh and William Currie scored as the BU's led 2-1 at the break.  A dull second half was livened only by a last-minute clincher from Walsh.

The team was: Graham, Mitchell, Tennant, Rodgers, Thomson, McKie, Hogg, Sproull, Currie, Walsh, Black.

In 2015, the visitors were Coupar Angus, in an East of Scotland Cup tie.  They were dispatched 8-0, with four goals in each half.  Doubles were notched by Robert Sloan and sub Darren Cummings.  The other was an own goal.

As @Deanburn Dave was after a teaser, which player hit a hat-trick that day?

1954 and Camelon were the visitors to Newtown in the first round of the Junior Cup. The BU's demolished their opponents by 9-0.  The only surprise being Alex Scott didn't get among the goals! Three players hit doubles, Jimmy Martin, John Hunter & Hugh McMahon. Andy McBlain & Jimmy Harrower netted, with Camelon completing their own misery with an own goal.

The team was: Ronald, Mitchell, McKeeman, Hogg, Boyd, McBlain, Scott, McMahon, Martin, Hunter, Harrower.

Great result from a great team. Three of that forward line provisionally signed at the time with senior clubs, Scott (Rangers), Martin (Rangers), Harrower (Hibs).

Would settle for just one for this season.

Glad to be back on home soil and so a wee teaser today that isn't as difficult as it first looks.

Throughout our history on this day, we have played two sides no longer in existence.  Can you name them?

Two clues 1) no West region involved and 2) no further back than the 60's.
