1966 and the season began with a friendly against a young Hibernian side.  The BU's cruised to a 4-1 win with Alex Nicol and a Matt Hunter penalty giving Bo'ness a 2 goal lead, before Hutchison reduced the leeway.  George Lumsden then scored a wonder goal with a 40yard run, beating 4 defenders before netting.  Billy Moreland completed the scoring.

The team was: Hope, Marshall, Gellatly, Nicol, Calder, Miller (Broome), Lumsden, Moreland, Hunter, Purden, McPaul

Going back to the 6 Alloa players.  Well, you have found three now: Gary Carroll, Brian Carrigan & Ross Philp.

The two that are stinkers to find are Hugh Kerr (mentioned last week) and Kerr Newbigging.

That leaves one to find and I am surprised nobody has got him.  He was even with us last season!

1959 and reigning League Champions Bo'ness kicked off the season at Linlithgow.  The Rose had finished third the previous season, so the thumping 5-0 win for United was a trifle unexpected.  Dave Thomson & Willie Allan both banged in doubles and Sandy Myles scored a penalty.

The team was: H Thomson, Kidd, Train, Hill, Millar, Myles, Roach, Watson, D Thomson, W Allan, Aitken

In 2002 the BU's hosted Partick Thistle in a Friendly encounter just 3 days after winning the George Simpson Memorial Trophy against old rivals Linlithgow.

The Jags game was also a positive result, 4-3 to the BU's with goals coming from a Gordon Herd brace, David Muirhead and John Black, his last goal before departing for Armadale.
