Bonnybridge were the opponents in front of a crowd around the 1000 mark. Paul McKinlay opened the scoring on 27 minutes, with the BU's 100th goal of the season but it was level by HT. Deadlock through the 2nd half and so extra-time! A free-kick from an un-named player restored the lead early on and 'sheep' added a 3rd at the start of the 2nd period, 3-1 to the BU's. Nearly every day could be covered up to July 3rd but most of the games that late have been meaningless league fixtures (or defeats), often with incomplete info as the local paper has always abandoned football for cricket in West Lothian come May. The first match at Prestonfield finished 2-2 but this was a comfortable win for the BU's by 3-1, even after going behind to a soft penalty. The BU's fought back and Jim Sinnet equalised on 17 minutes. Three minutes later and Pat Carroll scored with a cross-shot. Early in the 2nd half Sinnet clinched the Cup. Jambo'ness Posted June 10, 2019 Author Share Posted June 10, 2019 June 10th A momentous day for all of Bo'ness as not just the fans celebrated the 1984 Junior Cup Final win over runaway favourites Baillieston. A crowd of 15,000 at Ibrox witnessed the Lex Shields show as he scored a memorable double, in a 2-0 win. The BU's played 8 Junior Cup games that season, scoring 20 goals for the loss of only 4.
