Ah, mockery for supporting a smaller club. Always the clearest marker of strong case, that one.
The Marly
Given how mild the winter has been so far, there's every chance that we could have this break then get hit with 2 or 3 weeks of bad weather with lots of postponements. There is no way of predicting the weather in this country. If we must have a break it should be the 2 weeks before Christmas when people have plenty other things to spend their money on. Then back on Boxing day when folk will be off work and desperate to go to the football. Then derby day at New Year.
red23
Simple, they all want to go oot and get pished instead. Sums up the Scottish game.
tamba_trio
Well, what if we schedule games for international weekend but keep the current rule allowing teams to postpone matches?? Celtic and Rangers have won the league for 35 straight years. They are unbeatable under the current set up, sad as it is.
The Master
It's probably worth noting, in the context of this thread, that there's a high probability of no Boxing Day games next season, in any division. With it being a Thursday, the powers-that-be will likely prefer to use the Saturday post-Christmas rather than using Boxing Day then the following Sunday. That might mean there will be a Premiership New Year's Day/2nd January round, with the winter break being the weekends of 4th & 11th January. PauloPerth
Just wait until the end of this month when the snows come and each club has their three games a week postponed. Then we'll really appreciate how worthwhile it's been.

I think they should go back to cancelling individual games if the forecast warrants it. However, it should be done at least 24 hours before kick off so as not to inconvenience fans too much. If it turns out to be the wrong call in a few cases, just accept it. The vagaries of the weather add an interesting dimension to a game IMO , the rule makers are making it too 'sanitised'. I comment as someone who now never attends a game .

The thing you think they should "go back to" has never previously happened. It would be ludicrous to call off games 24 hours in advance based on weather forecasts which are quite often wrong. You'd then have a situation where games were called off but the pitch ended up totally playable, and you'd still probably also have games getting called off at short notice when a bad frost or heavy rain/snow comes in unexpectedly.
