In light of a chain of events which culminated at our away game yesterday against Glenafton being abandoned, Cambuslang Rangers FC Committee have now had the opportunity to discuss our position as regards the future of the Club.

With immediate effect, Assistant Managers, Jimmy Kerr, Billy Campbell and Derek Carmichael will assume responsibility for the running of all aspects of the football team.

This is as a result of Saturday’s alleged incident regarding our Manager, Mr Paul McColl and the Referee, Mr Calum Scott.  These events require full exhaustive and impartial investigation.  Mr McColl will, therefore, take time away from the Club whilst this investigation is ongoing.  Cambuslang Rangers, SJFA and Police Scotland are all working collectively to uncover the truth and, in doing so, to alleviate unfounded rumours.

On this note, Cambuslang Rangers FC would like to address the erroneous reports which are being spread amongst social media as to Saturdays’ events at Loch Park.    The factual events of what happened yesterday have been massively exaggerated to the point of complete fabrication on several media outlets.

Further, the Club would like to address the salient issue of the labelling of Cambuslang Rangers as all being  “thugs”.   We would point out that this unfounded generalisation is inaccurate, unfair and defamatory.  The management team whom are taking the Club going forward have a vast number of years of experience between them, each sporting an unblemished record.  Our players, committee, stakeholders and fans are merely people who want the best for their Club.  It is no secret that in junior football there is an interesting mix of temperaments and backgrounds.  However, that does not warrant the accusation that everyone involved with this Club is not fit to be here.

The Club would like to extend our thanks to Glenafton for their hospitality yesterday and offer our regrets that the game was abandoned.

A fine statement, but it says NOTHING. If accusing others of 'fabrications ' or reports that are  'massively exaggerated' then tell everyone what the truth is.

If a club choose to hire someone with this history https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-16036680 , what do they expect?

Evan an ambulance wouldn't go to pick him up without having an armed guard...https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/cambuslang-rangers-manager-paul-mccoll-gunned-down-outside-pub/ar-BBJrJNv

Wouldn't surprise me if the referees association decided their members (SFA employees)  were knowingly being put at risk and therefore refused to referee games involving Cambuslang.

True.  But they can publish what didn't happen.

To be fair, I don't think they can do that either, as it's a police investigation.

Nobody has been charged yet - it is still just an investigation. Remember we are talking about something they know didn't happen. What can someone be charged with if they said "the manager didn't leave a Lidl bag full of dog shit in the drivers seat of the referee's car" ?

It will start to get interesting when the West Region write to both clubs asking for their comments. "Sorry, we can't say anything, the Polis are still investigating."

There's a massive difference between disclosing information to select individuals or groups and publishing it on public forums or newspapers, where there is no control over who reads it, so therefore could (however unlikely) prejudice a resulting trial.

The Rutherglen Reformer has been McColl's platform for the past umpteen weeks complaining about referees and how hard done to he and his team have been with all their red cards etc. This week he's the lead story on the front page and page 2.

Is Gerry McSherry still writing into the letters page?

A very well written statement.

It is a very well written statement which, quite correctly, says next to nothing  about the incidents, given the ongoing police investigation.

Behind closed doors the club will be seething about the whole affair, but it would appear they brought it on themselves.

A good friend of mine was talking to two Cambuslang supporters at the game, they said they both used to be on the committee until the new management team came in, but had continued to follow the club home and away.

They admitted to being so embarrassed at what they witnessed that the would not be back near the club.

Sad times indeed.

Well written waffle.

The club had to put out some form of press release & as enquiries are/were still ongoing no details or accusations relating to the matters could be discussed. Whether or not the club brought it on themselves as some have said is irrelevant to the information the club had to put out for public viewing.
