Shandon Par
Is it on? Has there been anything like it before? Back to back relegations for three teams would be quite something. And yes, I am still bitter at losing to Partick.
craigkillie
It certainly hasn't happened in Scotland before, because it could only have occurred since the Pyramid Play-off was introduced in 2015, and East Stirlingshire are the only side to have been relegated out of that so far. The Nightfly
I understand the question to be asking whether the same 3 teams have been relegated in consecutive seasons, i.e. Partick Thistle, Brechin City and Dumbarton are in danger of this. craigkillie
Aye, I got a bit mixed up and somehow had it in my head that only one team got relegated from every division. Anyway, I've checked properly now, and there has never been a case where the same three teams have been relegated in consecutive seasons. The only time there have even been two teams doing it was from 1974-1976, and that was a bit of a special case because there was a league restructure at the end of 1974/75 which led to eight teams being "relegated" from the old top flight First Division to the new second tier First Division. A full list of double relegations: 1974-1976 - Dunfermline (1-3), Clyde (1-3) 1983-1985 - St Johnstone (1-3) 1992-1994 - Cowdenbeath (2-4) 1995-1997 - Dumbarton (2-4) 2000-2002 - Morton (2-4) 2004-2006 - Partick Thistle (1-3) 2005-2007 - Stranraer (2-4) 2008-2010 - Clyde (2-4) 2010-2012 - Stirling Albion (2-4) 2011-2013 - Dunfermline (1-3) 2014-2016 - Cowdenbeath (2-4)

HibeeJibee
Make that quintuple... Having been relegated from LL it looks very unlikely Hawick Royal Albert will qualify for the new EOS Premier Division, and would therefore be relegated from tier 6 to tier 7. (There are 3 parallel conferences at tier 6 in EOSL this season with top 5/6 from each remaining at that level while the rest drop to tier 7). I suspect all 5 won't come off, realistically. D.A.F.C
Bristol, Luton and Wolves have all had triple back to back relegations. Wolves have certainly been up and down the leagues over the years.
HibeeJibee
From the end of WWI until 1932 it was a rollercoaster for Dundee Hibs/Utd who played in the Eastern League, no league, the Eastern League again, the Central League, SFL Division Two, the Scottish Alliance, 2 seasons in Division Two, 2 seasons in Division One, 2 seasons in Div Two, 1 season in Div One, 1 season in Div Two, 1 season in Div One, then settled down in Div Two. craigkillie
I knew that one would slip through the net - have updated the original post to include Clyde.
