Infuriating things your parents do

Recommended Posts

All you people should just f**k off and be grateful for all your parents have had to put up with , and in some cases are still putting up with.

Ungrateful bunch of tossers.

Have you told him that he is doing it all wrong? Or does he just ignore you and just wants to piss you off?

He's been told numerous times by various members of the family, he just tells people to shut up and I've no idea what is logic is.

Is that the best you can come up with?  That's pathetic.

Jeezo. Mater and Pater Army have a thousand wee quirks and behaviours that rip my knitting so.

My mum, after passing the phone to my dad (bear in mind she's already spoken to me for half an hour) will then be in the background with the "remember to ask him about...." patter. Amazing.

Dad likes to make puns of everything but his desperation to do so often just results in him saying words to do with the thing being punned. It led to one memorable occasion when we were on a forest walk, what started with "son of a beech" etc (I know, we're a Wildean family) descended into him just spouting out the names of trees and shrubs at random, as if he'd been afflicted with arboreal tourettes. This happens on about half my visits now.

Mum is an anxious person who likes to consider all scenarios, how they can go wrong (actually, this is her specialist subject) and, occasionally, what can be done (but mostly, how it can go wrong and why one should never do said thing). But she gets very caught up in it that this will be the conversation henceforth. The other day I bought a cream coloured aran jumper. She then spent a good 20 minutes trying to figure out how to best get a stain out of said jumper, going over the benefits of a warm handwash versus a cool one. My jumper doesn't have a stain.

Ach, these aren't really that infuriating. I was laughing as I wrote.

My dad, who lives in Australia, will spend all his time back over here highlighting that everything is cheaper Down Under.
"Hey, I can get that at home for $4" etc etc. Always quoted in Aussie dollars, which means nothing to me.
He's pretty much Tam from Still Game, but with a sunhat instead of a bunnet. That said, he's taught me well.
Hiya son. Hiya pal.

Good to see you posting here, hadn't seen you on the forum in a while and just assumed you were pan breed.

Fingers crossed the winter isn't too harsh bud.

My parents eat and heat their house as if wartime rationing was still in place. Not sure why as they were both born in the 1950s.

* They don't eat their house.

My God that rings true. I said to them a few years ago I was thinking about a trip to South Africa and they said 'oh son don't go there it's terribly dangerous' so I relented, then last week they were telling me all about my cousin's great holiday in... South Africa!

Just because people mention things that infuriate them about their parents doesn't mean they are ungrateful for the way they've been brought up or anything their parents have done for them.  You can drop the "wise old head that knows better" shtick, you're utterly shite at it.

My mum keeps the heating at a sickeningly high level at all times. I suspect she's one of those David Icke lizard people under it all. My poor dad often has to sit around in shorts at all times of the year.

Sigh. Telling you that you're acting like a stupid old fool doesn't require anyone to be wound up.
