All this bluffing and shite is annoying.

Yes would all love attacking free flowing football but in doing so we would concede more goals as we would score.

GN is doing a very good job so far with the budget he has.

We sit in a playoff spot as we speak.

I asked a few months ago would people want promotion and not so attractive football or No promotion with exciting football.

most said promotion please.

As for the nonsense regards a product people want to see putting attendances down....... I bet all those staying away yesterday will be knocking the door down if we are in the SPL next year.

it is nothing to do with product it is down to being a wee bit wet and cold to come and support your team.

I was sat next to Callum Semples family who said they have a round trip of 8 hours to come and watch a home game. There was 5 of them.

some of our support can’t even walk 10 minutes to watch the game yesterday.

dress it up how you like ...... 700 at a home game is piss poor.

Callum Semple's family do have a bit more of a personal investment in events than most.  Not the best example of the dedication others should aspire to.

If you are suggesting that the potential pool of people from that era is around 500, that is just wrong. Looking at an old Nightmare on Terregles Street fanzine, crowd numbers are shown from 1971/72 to 1991/92. They may not be 100% accurate, but I imagine they will give a good indication. Average crowds in the 1970s were never in the hundreds. In 1971/72, for example, they were about 2,200. Same in 1975/76, the first season of the new First Division, when there were only 13 home league games.

They did show a dip in the early 80s when we were in the Second Division, but recovered in the mid 80s when we were back in the First.

The serious and consistent decline only really happened in the early 90s towards the end of the Harkness era. So, although they did fluctuate in the 80s, it is not true to suggest that the crowds were in the hundreds such that there are only that many potential fans from that era around now.

According to 'The Roar of the Crowd' by David Ross, these are the figures for our average league gates during the relevant years:

1970-71: 1413

1971-72: 2179

1972-73: 1320

1973-74: 2006

1974-75: 1874

1975-76: 2222

1976-77: 1882

1977-78: 1659

1978-79: 1171

1979-80: 1018

1980-81: 1247

1981-82: 1130

1982-83: 689

1983-84: 829

1984-85: 599

1985-86: 1511

1986-87: 1743

1987-88: 1282

1988-89: 907

1989-90: 737

1990-91: 619

1991-92: 609

1992-93: 586

1993-94: 981

1994-95: 1209

1995-96: 1189

1996-97: 1214

1997-98: 1264

1998-99: 1217

1999-00: 1153

I've no idea what it means, but I was bored, so did it anyway.

8 hours travel  against a 10/15 minute walk.

Invested interest or not, it really is poor and you know it.

The most entertaining thing yesterday came from The Pars support. One guy never shut up all game and at one point someone further along told him to shut up (though he must have known him as he called him by his name). There was a bit of back and forth which was really quite funny. Others around me were laughing as well. The guy was particularly upset that Higginbotham was taking all the corners and asking the players if no one else could hit one. In the first half he took about 3 in a short period of time and was going from one side of the pitch to the other. By the 3rd (or 4th) corner when Higginbotham was jogging to taking the corner the guy shouts "See! The boy is fucking knackered!" [emoji38] I'm not sure if it was just because he was pished or if the fella maybe has a rage problem, but he wasn't shouting for comical effect, even though he was hilarious.

Was that near the segregation line? He's well known, the back and forth with the guy further along was just banter, I'm sure they are usually on the same bus.

Yeah. Aye it was definitely a jovial back and forth but it was very amusing nonetheless, plenty of folk were laughing among both sets of fans.

Says it all about the standard of football we're being treated to when jokers in the crowd are the best entertainment of the day.

It's Scottish football, there are many things that make us love it. But the quality on the pitch isn't necessary high on the list.
