Hence provisional lists (that reminds me of that brilliant post regarding the death of the IRA guy. Excellent bit of patter. I've learned a valuable lesson this year, I took the gamble that the low hanging fruit that is Sir Stirling Moss would get more points than the lassie with the new lease of life that WAS Marieke Vervoort. If the selfish auld git is still going next year I'll be looking to drop him for someone more points worthy, been lining up a few young(er) thrusters to take his place. Got a couple others who could be replaced with potentially more pointsworthy subs although its all a gamble, Leah hung on for longer than expected.

Miguel Sanchez
Week 45 update One death this week, Irish broadcaster Gay Byrne: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2019/nov/05/gay-byrne-obituary Quote The TV and radio broadcaster Gay Byrne, who has died aged 85, leaves a unique legacy in Irish life. Byrne is sometimes credited with changing Ireland over several decades, but it is truer to say that he facilitated its transformation, giving citizens a voice to tease out the nation’s rebirth as the forces of conservatism crumbled and the grip of the Catholic church loosened. During his 37 years from 1962 as presenter and producer of the state broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann’s flagship The Late Late Show, he allowed the sun to break through and illuminate some hard truths. On the Late Late and in his daily radio shows he broke the silence in which these changes were taking place and mediated a national discourse about them. Byrne helped the Irish people establish who they now were, and who they could be, and in allowing public discussion became a potent liberator of the collective psyche. At exactly the moment Ireland needed him, he stepped up. I've said it before, but one of the nicest surprises of running the Dead Pool has been learning about people I had never heard of. Or in the case of Gay Byrne, someone I had heard of because of people picking him in the Dead Pool but still knew nothing about. Additionally in this case, someone who was so ubiquitous for so long in a country so near ours. With that in mind, an Irish obituary is perhaps more appropriate, certainly more detailed. Whatever you read or whatever you know, the consensus is that this was a man universally respected, who was arguably the most important figure in a country's drastic and positive social changes. He was also only picked twice, so he gets a Deadly Duo bonus. He was 85 so he's worth 40 Base Points, with an additional 25 for the Deadly Duo bonus. @gkneil and @weirdcal are the beneficiaries in this case, with 65 points each. Talked the dodgily nicknamed 'Uncle Gaybo' off this years list, was a likely contender to fill the ranks of next years. Doing a bit of tidying up of the subs bench and a few have gone, including the boy who wrote The Pacific. Got some good oldies but unless you get a solo they're not very pointsworthy, what is a boy to do ?????
