youre right its not important anymore. this isnt coming from a bitter point of view but when i got married, we stayed in the hotel that night and next day back to our same house, with the same kids doing the same shite. we had lived together that long it changed nothing but the bank balance that lost £10k. thats basically a deposit on a property.

Not sure why this thread has turned out this way but this is the exact mind set I’m in. We’ve been together for 9 years, have a property and a child and may as well be married, all she wants is to have the same surname as her daughter which I suppose is important but not worth £10k IMO.

Ripped jeans. Or more specifically, young men that wear ripped jeans.

Why do you notice young men who wear ripped jeans?

It’s pretty difficult to not notice it cos it looks fucking daft.

Peanut allergies.

Never heard about them when I was a kid. Those were the days when you were allowed to climb trees, have skint knees, pick your food (cheese) up off the floor and generally just live life as a little ragamuffin without being kept in some sort of sterile bubble that a load of kids seem to be in nowadays.

Instagram/airbnb tourism.

f**k me places like Skye and Embra are ruined these days.

In what way are they ruined? Because more people know about them? Is Skye a big secret. Might come as a shock to you but Edinburgh and Skye have been on the go longer than Instagram and Airbnb. The more people that get to visit the better.

There was a girl in my school who had a bad peanut allergy and if you ate peanuts within a 100 meter radius of her she would die.

She’s still alive at 26 but certainly a ticking time bomb:

Edinburgh: depopulation of city centre. Unlawful operation of flats as effective hotels through continual short term letting, no planning permission abd non payment of non domestic rates to the council.

Skye: road network unable to support volume of car traffic in high season particularly in the single track parts in the north. Foot traffic at places like the fairy pools so intense you now walk on bedrock between remaining clumps of earth that used to be the ground. Narcissistic people zooming round pools, fairy glen, old man of storr to get the selfie at each and then leaving.

Tourism is fine but like [insert literally anything] it requires management particularly where it impacts on the lives of residents, as it does here. Bring this stuff into regulation, charge fees/taxes, invest in infrastructure.

See also: North Coast 500, Harry Potter choochoo show making residents of Glenfinnan prisoners in their village because if they go anywhere their parking spot will be gone for the day.

I agree that these are all problems and it wouldn’t be much fun if you were a resident of these places,  but these are symptoms of the places becoming more popular and more people wanting to go, and in this day and age you can’t keep many places a secret. The infrastructure can be improved around these places to help but unfortunately you can’t just ban people from visiting parts of our country.

Skye would be great if campervan hirers/drivers weren't such abject fucking morons.

They should bring back the bridge tolls for these c***s alone.

People actually stop their cars on the road to take pictures of sheep there.

The inverse correlation between how good our teles have become versus the shite there is to watch.

This would be true were it not for the welter of video on demand or streaming services available.  You can watch pretty-much anything any time you fancy.

^^^hasn't learned how to 'cast' porn from his tablet to the big telly yet ;)
