Can't see a scenario where Hamilton gets that 8th title now.

Looking forward to see how Aston Martin perform after teams start the upgrade packages. That may well be the main point of interest this season.

Wonder if Stroll will manage to lay a glove on Alonso's performance today, miles ahead.

Yeah, without the intra-team contact 1 through 10 would have been entirely processional.

The idea of regulation stability and closing up the field is sound on paper, but not when it just results in small but still insurmountable gaps between every single team on the grid. It just means you get a procession where everyone is 2-3 seconds behind the car in front instead of a bigger gap.

Glad the Aston looks glued to the track and Alonso is happy with it, because even if they get left behind developmentally it should mean he will remain more than capable of being a pain in the arse to the 'big three' on slower tracks.

Hamilton continuing to prove to be completely ordinary when he isn't in machinery that is miles ahead of anything else, is as amusing as it is predictable.

George Russell, who finished seventh. “Red Bull have got this championship sewn up and I don’t think anybody will be fighting with them this year,” he said. “They should win every single race.

“With the performance they have got I don’t see anyone challenging them. They have got it easy at the moment and they can do what they like.”

George Russell, who of course joined Mercedes because of their well-known Corinthian spirit of competitiveness in the hybrid era.

Mercedes deciding now, after race 1, that what they need is a brand new car rather than sticking with the design of this one...well, duh.

I think seeing a customer car, with the same engine, gearbox and suspension, breeze past Hamilton, woke them up a bit.

It seems very silly that they stuck with this design knowing it wasn't good enough. Remains to be seen how easy it is to just pull a new car out of the hat.

I'm looking for a pub in the centre of Glasgow that might show the Saudi race - any suggestions?  Central Station/Argyle Street/Queen Street area would suit me best, but might travel if schedule allows.

At 5pm on a Sunday good luck finding a pub showing any live sport that isn't Man Utd v Fulham or Leverkusen v Bayern Munich.

Lazio v Roma is on too.

You might get lucky if you ask nicely in Walkabout or the casino but that's likely going to be your only options.

The Ark just off George Square would have it on a couple screens probably, maybe Waxys and The Merchant as well. It’s definitely much more popular for being on the tele these days. Saw a guy in an Aston Martin t shirt in the pub on Sunday night. You’ll defo get it somewhere if you check their websites or go in a half hour before it starts.

I can't believe that Mercedes would willingly ignore the opinions of the greatest driver of all-time regarding their car. I do enjoy Hamilton saying that it is about "accountability" while making it abundantly clear he is willing to shoulder none of the blame.

This after he was giving it "great job guys so proud of your effort" on the cooldown lap on Sunday.

He truly is such a massive c**t.

Weird from Hamilton, he usually says the right thing off track (what his PR team tells him to) and acts like a moany p***k on it. This weeks been the opposite.
