Some signing news from the manager!...

Maud would like to welcome Jack Walker on the left on loan from Buckie thistle and Mark Andrews goal keeper on the right

"Really happy to get both signings in before the Christmas break, they will bolster the squad for what will be a big second half of the season. Jack will come in and add both quality and energy to an already competitive midfield. Mark is someone I've had in my previous teams for a few years now, brings great experience and quality in both performance and training. Mark will provide back up to Rhys Fyfe and double up as a coach for both goalie and outfielders. Both good solid signings that will lift the squad"

Bridge of Don Thistle 4 - 0 Maud

McBookie North Superleague

5th January 2019

Maud: Fyfe, Whyte, Thornton, Clark, Lawson, Thomson, Ritchie, Conway, Chicken, Walker, Norris

Subs: Grant, Mackie, Andrews GK, Thomson, Robertson

Maud travelled to face inform Bridge of Don Thistle and Maud got off to the worst possible start with an own goal inside 2 minutes. Maud keeper got a let off when Muirhead chased down the keepers kick out and Muirhead put the ball wide with the goal gaping. At the other end a Thomson free kick went narrowly over the bar. Conway tested Stack after a neat turn inside the box but shot straight at the goalkeeper. The home side doubled their lead with a solo goal from Alexander. Muirhead netted a third with a clever lob from edge of the box. A Chicken cross from was met by Conway but his shot was deflected wide for a corner which was cleared by Simpson.

HT 3–0

Maud started the second half with Mackie replacing Walker giving Maud 2 up front. The away side started better with Thomson firing a free kick high from 20 yards. A good move involving Mackie and Norris on the wing and his cross was just too hard for Conway to get on the end of. Chicken sent on a dangerous cross for Whyte to head over. From a corner Lawson failed to get his header on target. Cromar came close to adding number 4 but his shot rattled the post. Alexander completed the scoring with an easy goal coming from a long throw in by Taylor. This was a tough game and too many errors from the away side let them down. Maud would like to wish striker Ryan Smart a speedy recovery after a bad fall in training landing him in Hospital with a bad head injury.

To be honest I haven't been to a game yet. I've only started helping out with the social media side of things. I believe most attendances are around 50-150 people. There are a few teams based in Aberdeen City which get a bit of a larger crowd.

Colony Park 4 - 2 Maud

McBookie North Superleague

12th January 2019

Maud: Fyfe, Whyte, Hall, Thornton, Crisp, Lawson, Thomson, Mackie, Chicken, Walker, Norris

Subs: Andrews GK, Thomson, Robertson, Ritchie, Fraser

Maud travelled to face Colony Park and Norris stung the hands of Colony keeper Farskin. Maud took the lead when a quick corner to Mackie and the striker curled it over Farskin. The home side got a break when Chicken raced away from 2 defenders and was hacked down by Davidson who only received a yellow card. Maud were then dealt a blow with Ritchie replacing Lawson after being carried off with suspected ligament damage. Colony drew level after Bonarius headed in from a Roddie cross. Mackie with a through ball to Norris who drove the ball along the six-yard box with no takers. The home side took the lead when a poor kick out fell to Ross who had an empty net to score. Break by Maud and Mackie played in Chicken but a poor first touch and the chance was gone.

HT 2–1

Maud started the second half with Fraser replacing the injured Chicken. Fyfe made a fine save from Bonarius. For a 15-minute spell Maud had the home side pinned in with shots by Norris, Ritchie and then Fraser forced a corner with a fingertip save by Farskin for a corner which came to nothing. Mackie held the ball up well and a quick turn and shot but straight at Farskin. A break by the home side netted their 3rd goal with Cochrane getting past Fyfe to tap in to an empty net. Fraser wasted a good chance then Hall fired over a free kick on the edge of the box. The home side got a 4th goal after a fine save by Fyfe Ross was on hand at the back post to score. Maud then got a second goal from Mackie with a fine turn inside the box and lash home. This was a disappointing score result after a good start to the game.

Maud next fixture is on Saturday 19 January Home v Montrose Roselea in the McBookie.com Superleague with a 1.30pm ko.

Jeez no offence but Chris Sutton appears to need to hoover up cash doing any old tat. Mind and offer to pay him in foreign currency and ensure he gets a full vat receipt for the official receiver.

Lindsay wood could possibly offer sound advice.

Good to see you getting involved though, we don't hear much about the juniors outside the West and East region. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

Ellon 0 - 3 Maud

McBookie North Superleague

Saturday 16th February

After 4 weeks without a game it was great to get back playing and even better to get an away win.

Ryan Smart scored 2 (one a rocket apparantly!!) and Greg Mackie the other and hopefully this will give the lads some confidence for the upcoming games.

Maud 2 - 1 Hermes

North Superleague

2nd March 2019

Maud: Fyfe, Whyte, Mair, G Thomson, Walker, Ritchie, R Thomson, Cooper, Chicken, Smart, Mackie

Subs: Andrews GK, Robertson, Norris, Fraser, Kennedy

Maud had Hermes as opponents in a league match with Maud fielding a make shift defence and were soon pinned back by Hermes who had a strong wind behind them. Fyfe did well to punch clear a free kick from Smith. Fyfe then made a good block when McRae was played through on the right. The away side earned a host of corners which were well defended by the Maud defence.  A break upfield and Chicken combined with Smart who sent in a dangerous cross which hit Brown and ended up in his own net to give the hosts the lead against the run of play. A Ritchie shot from distance flew high over the bar. Fyfe saved comfortably from a Lee Smith free kick. Just on half time Fyfe made a superb save from a McCrae shot which looked goal bound.

HT 1–0

The second half started with the visitors on the attack and after a goal mouth scramble Fyfe gathered. Dawson should have done better when his turn and shot went high over the Bar from 6 yards. A first time shot by Mackie was easily held by Sweeny.  Smart wasted a good chance when he received the ball on the right and he rounded the out-rushing Sweeney but his shot was a poor effort and Brown got back to clear of the line. The Maud striker soon made amends when a long ball by Fyfe was ran onto by Smart who cut into the Hermes box and was fouled resulting penalty. The striker got up to send the keeper the wrong way to double the home side lead. From a corner Browns header was deflected wide. Fraser and Kennedy then replaced Smart and. Mackie. Chicken made a long run forward and his cut back fell to Kennedy whose shot was deflected wide. In the last minute the visitors pulled a goal back when a shot from Stevenson was deflected past Fyfe. This was a very gritty performance by Maud and a welcome three points.

Maud next fixture is on Saturday 9 March Home v Montrose Roselea in the McBookie.com Superleague with a 2pm ko.

RESULT

Maud 0 - 1 Montrose Roselea

North Superleague

9th March 2019

Maud: Fyfe, Whyte, Crisp, G Thomson, Mair, Walker, Ritchie, R Thomson, Chicken, Smart, Walker

Subs: Norris, Fraser, Kennedy, Mackie, Thornton

Maud welcomed Montrose Roselea in a league match and it was played in a very strong wind which didn't help things. First chance fell to Maud when Smart could only shoot straight at McLeod in the away goals. Maud then had a couple of scares when a scramble in the box was eventually cleared then a Rae shot from palmed away by Fyfe. McLeod pulled off a fine stop when a Chicken corner was headed goalwards by Crisp. Maud's next attack saw a Chicken drive going narrowly past the post after some good work by R Thomson

HT 0–0

The second half started, and the visitors went ahead when a break down the right by Thomson and his cross was met at the back post by Grieg who lashed home the opening goal. Grieg then missed a good chance to double the away side lead but fired wide from a ball from Rae. The play went from end to end with neither side creating any chances. The home side were soon down to 10 men after Conway was sent off. Maud made changes towards the end but failed to create any further openings for the home side. This was a disappointing result for the home side after winning their last 2 league games. This was always a game where the first goal would win all 3 points.

Maud next fixture is on Saturday 16 March away v Dyce Juniors in the McBookie.com Superleague with a 2pm ko.

Done be deceived by the warm look to this photo it was Baltic! The pitch was in good condition but heavy which was understandable given the rain. Think on that display Maud will be safe but need 2-3 wins to be sure. Great hospitality as usual at the Pleasure Park! All the best for the rest of the season

Looking over the pitch at full time your not wrong, plenty of divots.

Was hoping we could have nicked a point or 3 but wasn't to be unfortunately.

Fingers crossed can pick up a few more results and climb the table with our games in hand.

Good luck to yourselves as well.
