skippy2015
Pot one - PolandPot two - wales or IcelandPot three - ScotlandPot four - AlbaniaPot five - Gibraltar Pot six - San MarinoThe key pot is pot two. Wales and Iceland would be great both moving backwards. Obviously Germany would be horrible and don’t want Russia, Denmark or Ukraine either. Czech Bosnia Austria Sweden would somewhere in the middle.

charger29
In case anyone was wondering about the format/pots. Bolded section is most relevant to Scotland Quote The qualifying group stage draw will be held on 2 December 2018, 12:00 CET (11:00 local time) at the Convention Centre Dublin in Dublin, Republic of Ireland.[11][12] The 55 teams will be drawn into 10 groups: five groups of five teams (Groups A–E) and five groups of six teams (Groups F–J).[13] The teams will be seeded based on the 2018–19 UEFA Nations League overall ranking. The four participants of the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals in June 2019 will be placed in a separate pot and drawn into Groups A–D which only have five teams so that they only have to play eight qualifying matches, leaving two free matchdays to play in Nations League Finals.[1] The following restrictions will also be applied by computer assistance: Host teams: In order to allow all 12 teams from the host associations to have a chance to qualify as group winners and runners-up, a maximum of two will be placed in each group: Azerbaijan, Denmark, England, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Spain. Political clashes: The following pairs of teams cannot be drawn into the same group due to political clashes: Armenia / Azerbaijan, Gibraltar / Spain, Kosovo / Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo / Serbia, Ukraine / Russia. Winter venues: A maximum of two teams identified as venues with high or medium risk of severe winter conditions will be placed in each group: Belarus, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Russia, Ukraine. Excessive travel: A maximum of one pair of teams identified with excessive travel distance in relation to other countries will be placed in each group: Azerbaijan: with Gibraltar, Iceland, Portugal. Iceland: with Armenia, Cyprus, Georgia, Israel. Kazakhstan: with Andorra, England, France, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Malta, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Wales. Dr Watson
As someone already said, Pot 2 is the key. Add the possible strongest team in Pot 1 and we might have a chance. My thinking is that a strong team from Pot 1 will beat everybody, whereas a weaker Pot 1 team might drop points to the teams from Pots 2 and 4. We had the reigning World Champions in our group for the last Euros; they dropped seven points against our closest rivals, and we couldn't take anything. You can't tell what kind of form any of them will be in by the time the matches start*; France could be dugshite and struggle against Liechtenstein. I'll take whoever we've played least often lately, which might be the Swiss, giving me the opportunity to nurse my growing hatred for them and their baffling success through mediocrity. Grr. * except England.

Paco
The two host nations part will be crucial. There are weaker sides in Pot 4 & 5 than Hungary and Azerbaijan, but it might be worth getting them to avoid Germany, Denmark and Russia from Pot 2. The rest of that Pot, while still better than us, are far more beatable - Bosnia, Wales, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Austria, Sweden, Iceland. Would be chuffed with Wales, Bosnia or the Czechs. Least pleased with Sweden or Ukraine. Would love Poland from Pot 1 as I don’t see them as too much better than the likes of Denmark or Sweden but it’s not ultimately too important. Pots 2 & 4 are crucial - Bosnia and Estonia is great, Germany and Greece isn’t.
Alert Mongoose
How will they do the draw? If a third host nation comes out in a group will they be thrown back in the pot?
accies1874
How will they do the draw? If a third host nation comes out in a group will they be thrown back in the pot? I'd imagine so. ETA: Or they get moved into the next available group, which might actually be the more likely way to do it.
