I discovered this a couple of years ago and did indeed find it mind blowing.  It sounds like a fairly formal English construction.

The longest straight line between two points of land on the Earth's surface (ie longest straight line a ship could sail in a straight line) is between the countries of...

Pakistan and Russia, and vice versa.

(South from Pakistan, through the gap between 'mainland' Africa and Madagascar, SW through the Drake Passage between Argentina and Antarctica and then north across the Pacific until you eventually hit far NE of Russia)

I learned these a couple of weeks ago:

1. France shares a border with the (Kingdom of the) Netherlands.

2. France's longest boundary with another country is with...

 

1. Border between Saint Martin and Sint Martin (in the Caribbean)

2. Brazil  (border with French Guiana, which despite being in South America is part of the EU and uses the Euro as its currency)
