Boca Juniors v River Plate - Copa Libertadores final

Recommended Posts

Worth remembering Boca fans attacked River fans as the were walking down the tunnel once, they're as bad as each other, and it'll be reciprocated next time they meet.

Not much you can do to stop this at all, bar banning them from playing each other, but something needs done. Players getting blinded is too far, yet there's two players there who ended up with shards in their eyes.

Videos of a woman strapping flares to a child pre-match aswell to try and get them in, different videos show people walking amongst groups of fans with lit flares, you can see how much worse things can get here.

Boca have said they don't want to play and want awarded the win. River plate have said they want the game played and it's business as usual. There are going to be riots regardless of what happens.

Called off indefinitely.  It should have been a 1 off game at a neutral ground.

It’s moving to that as of next season.

This is a shambles.

It should be behind closed doors. As there would have been no Boca fans at the game anyway it's only River Plate that'd be penalised, as it should be.

I didn't think FIFA had any jurisdiction over club competitions run by the likes of UEFA and CONMEBAL?

They don't. I think there's a lot of misinformation swirling around and stuff being lost in translation.

Even if it was behind closed doors the fans would still attack the players on their way to the stadium.

And again, both sets of fans have being doing this to the teams for years.

Neutral venue with no fans is the only way to stop any issues.
