As for the game I'm hopeful for the sole reason we're at Tynecastle and Kilmarnock looked poor against Aberdeen. The sensible money is on 0-0 if we go 4-6-0 again and Boyd starts for Killie.

Brophy will start in place of Boyd.

The Hearts support have always been a bit of an enigma to me,

some seasons they are a sound bunch, appreciative of any success snd respectful of their fellow diddie clubs.

Other seasons this strange sectarian knuckle dragging section of their support appears from nowhere and tarnishes the club.

Weird thing is that the Union Jackboot sections appearances dont appear to have any link to how the club is performing,

I have seen them when Hearts were pish and when the were passable, then they vanish for a few seasons again.

A few seasons back they turned up en masse to Rugby Park and took up position dead cetre of the away stand,

about 20 minutes in, they launch in to a rousing rendition of Rule Brittania complete with Union Jacks in a scene worthy of last night of the proms.

and every Hearts fan around them pelted them with whatever came to hand, an amazing display of paper cup fireworks and exploding Killie Pies.

I have always had a lot of respect for the real Jambos after that day.

Where does this section of Burberry  Britbams come from ?

Who are they ?

Why do they only appear every few seasons?

and are they Chelsea supporters in disguise ?

I'll inform the Gorgie Boys to turn up with Scottish Saltires and sing Floo'er oh Scotchland the next time Hearts are down at Rugby Park, hoots min we can all jig away as the game passes us by.

Anyone know if you can get the tram to Tynecastle from haymarket?

Tram to Murrayfield, double back on yourself to Roseburn then along to the ground from there, probably quicker walking from Haymarket unless there's a tram outside the station waiting on you.

I can't go tomorrow so giving my season ticket to my son's mate.

I would love to say that whenever I miss a home game Hearts seem to play brilliantly and  we win at a canter, but the last two home games I've missed we've been well beaten.

Thank feck I'm not superstitious.

Nah, couldn't pay me to visit Edinburgh during the festival unless I'm going tot he football!

Same here, Edinburgh City Center at the best of times is a nightmare.

I'll see if there's a slot at the local Lodge Heart of Midlothian 832 if they could fit you in.

I remember that day well, took great amusement in seeing the wee bigots shouted down and ultimately escorted out. It reassured me that the bigoted contingent will never become a big enough section to air their views or songs in the way they did that day and tbf it's not happened since.

Apart from Hello, Hello which is still bizarrely fair game for otherwise reasonable supporters, that 'vocal bigotry' isn't really evident at games (pretty common in some pubs though), it's the arseholes that bring Union flags and NI flags that make us look like we have some sort of affiliation with Rangers.

Considering we actually paid money for Wighton I'll be disappointed if Levein still thinks he isn't ready despite only have one other recognised striker.

Glasgow Rangers FC do not hold copyright to the Union Flag (which is the official flag of Northern Ireland also) or the Red Hand of Ulster for which i assume you were meaning originally.

It's not a crime to display either of those flags regardless of your opinions on arseholes.

Are you on weekend release from somewhere ?

(Genuine question)

Going to work in just your speedos isn’t a crime but that doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea or that you won’t look a bit silly*

Michael Smith and Aaron Hughes are both Northern Irish.

Folk used to bring Czech flags when Rudi was around. The concept in itself is fine, I'm sure the Northern Irish players quite like seeing their national flag in the stands. The problem is with the majority of people who bring them.

Not forgetting, of course, that we have a noticeable Northern Irish fanbase at Tynecastle 8)

Northern Ireland isn’t really exotic enough for that kind of rationale to make sense

Having been to the Czech Republic, I wouldn't call it 'exotic'.

Ulster Hearts SC and Manchester Hearts SC as an example ?

Just sounds a wee bit Celtic in that “ nothing we sing is sectarian” we all know why the flags come out, we all know it’s not against the law as such. But it’s just unnesassary and nothing to do with the hearts.

I have no problem with the Union flag or the Irish tricolour, but agree that it tends to be arseholes that bring them to football stadiums.

A bit like smoke bombs, the more taboo you make the flags, the more they will appeal to daft youngsters who love giving a big f**k you to us old boring fuddy duddies.

Someone has to come up with a plan to make the flags very uncool to teenagers and halfwits.

Any away friendly pubs near Tynecastle? We'd usually go somewhere around Haymarket but reckon it could get busy around there with the rugby being on.

I've seen away fans in a few pubs near Tynecastle, Diggers and Stratties. No idea if their door policy has changed lately.

If I was you I would stick to the usual away pubs, like the Roseburn Tavern and mix with the rugger clientele.
