I’ve been involved in amateur football for over 45 yrs and one of the biggest problems or reasons for the demise of amateur football is the total lack of dedicated committee men unfortunately it’s just modern life and nothing much we can do about that most clubs that have folded recently have been when the committee have all just reached an age where they’re basically to old and nobody has been able to step in to carry on its sad but there we go !!

Ive found its more the lack of fully committed players, ive seen teams with no committees, just a manager and someone else to help him run it, and the team struggles due to player numbers, simple as, when you, the other gaffer and 3 of your more looked up to players are texting every name in your phone book on a fri or a sat night trying to get people in to help, its a b*****d

amateur football will continue to decline as long as the disastrous youth system introduced by mark wotte continues to be followed by inept brainwashed coaches who never played football. you, ll note he got out before the shit hit the pan. kids aren,t being brought into football properly nowadays at grass roots level, coaching consists of running round cones, no one teaches the basics, they don't get taught the rules and as they go further down the system they become disillusioned and disinterested and think its their fault they can,t play the game. the whole coaching system in this country needs ripped up and instead of running round cones would it not be better to let kids play the game and learn from whats left of football knowhow. if somebody doesn,t change the system we,re doomed and it will be more than amateur football that will die.

Bollocks. Dont know where the, "running round cones..." comes from. Loads of Coaches who have played football at differing levels involved in Youth Football predominantly through their kids. If youre suggesting you can only coach if youve been professional then you would have even less teams. There might be a variety of reasons for the problems but to lump it all on the guys who give up hours of their own time and money to Coach kids is nonsense.

you got it in one and are obviously one of the brainwashed who put coaching before playing. let the kids play and dump the confetti coaching badges. look outside your bubble football is dying all around you because of a failed system introduced by a dutch man who got the boot from morocco for peddling the same drivel as he sold here to a gullible market. let kids play and coach in the background without blowing the I,ve got a coaching badge trumpet.
