Aboorden v Skeleton Accies: Spooky Halloween Edition

Recommended Posts

Good to see us passing the ball a bit, hopefully the lads have realised they are capable of it. Well taken goal by Wilson and he almost got a second. Shinnie is just a dynamo. Lowe looked excellent again, rightly getting MOTM. Thought May tried hard and was unlucky from the clever run he made to have his shot stopped. He was also well placed if McGinn has looked up a couple of times. Would have been scenes if Shay’s easier had gone in.

I always enjoy seeing old, past it and frustrated knobs like Dougie Imrie get sent off. Will NEVER tire of that.

After the improved performances against Rangers and Killie, that was back to Hibs-level bad. We seem to be creating a wee bit more though.
Three goals all came from standing off Aberdeen and letting them have a pop. In fact, they stood off Aberdeen for so much of the game. You'd sometimes see Martin or Imrie push up to press Ferguson or Shinnie, but it was completely ineffective. The midfield was all over the place, made even funnier by us eventually having a midfield partnership of a centre-back and a winger.
McMann was bad, Ziggy looked at fault for Wilson's goal and even Kilgallon looked sloppy. The other two in the back five were the only players with pass marks. Woods' mistake was fucking mental.
I can't be arsed with talking about (most of) the rest of the team, but I found Brustad's sub weird. Keatings grew into the game, but keeping Bingham on was bizarre.
That weather made the journey home a c**t too, so f**k off Aberdeen.

Wasn't there last night but sounds like a good old fashioned Mcinnes vs bottom 6 side 'hardly a blistering performance but comfortable enough' victory.

Early goal certainly helps in that regard.

Wonderful strike from Wilson, more of that please.

Really enjoyed last night performance felt 3-0 was a fair result overall as we was pretty good in attack creating a lot of chances. We was pretty sloppy in defence at times and that is one to brush up on as we won't get away with that on Sunday.  It was good to give some kids a run in the team once 3-0 up :)

Hopefully we can go on a run like we have done in previous seasons although this will be tough as the league looks a lot more competitive but yesterday results has brought us closer to other teams now.

Feel the most important thing after Sunday was to keep any momentum going, so in that respect Accies were pretty much the ideal team to play. Cracker of a goal from Wilson, hopefully he can push on a bit from here. Defence looked solid again though Accies didn't offer too much. Think I saw somewhere in domestic games played together McKenna and Devlin have only let in one goal (vs Celtic).

Decent performance without being fantastic. As someone mentioned above it's pretty much a standard comfortable McInnes performance against a bottom six team. Good to see some of the younger players get on ahead of the 85th minute too.

I'm amazed that some folk go to the football and seem to only want to be negative about things.  Had to spend the whole second half listening to some guy whine endlessly about how shite McGinn is every time he touched the ball.

I thought that McGinn was showing signs of being back again last night.  The last three games have definitely seen an upturn in his performance.

McGinn’s been doing classic McGinn things imo. The less flashy winger compared to his partner (prev Hayes, now GMS) but he’s the one making the assists (delivery for Ferguson, assisting Wilson v Motherwell, winning penalty v Hearts).

McGinn’s the absolute boy, and he’ll get back on the goal trail soon enough [emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

Lifelong Accies fan Lewis Smith makes his debut. Well done kid. Big hopes for this boy.

Always good to hear of a youngster getting his First team debut, well done to  him.  Did he play against Basel in the Youth league?

McGinn has pretty much always been an inconsistent performer for us, so that is nothing new. He is beyond his peak, but he is still capable of producing moments of quality that few of his teammates have the ability to envisage or execute. Having him in the team also takes some of the creative burden away from Mackay-Steven and prevents our attacks from becoming too predictable or easy to read. He is also a defensively diligent winger. He obviously shouldn't be exempt from criticism, but some of our fans are too harsh on him.
