Could there be another Falklands war?

Brazil see the British control of the Falklands as colonialism and agrees with Argentina. In '82 they impounded a Vulcan bomber that was forced to land in Rio, and held the crew. They handed them back a week later in exchange for helicopter parts.

Tbh I don't regard the EEZ as belonging to the islanders - if they're British, then it's British waters. They already get far more than their share, and far more than they put in. That's fine, but they don't then get to control all the resources too.

I don't know, a lot of moderate folk don't care and Argentina is skint, if they could get a decent deal they might go for it. Timing would be everything. The nationalists and veterans would go nuts though - on both sides.

So Brazil can be bought off - handy to know.

Don’t think you have much to be scared of then.  :(

You can't buy off North Korea or Saudi Arabia. They don't run countries, thank f*ck, but if they did you couldn't buy off ISIS or the Taliban. The ideologues are always scarier than the pragmatists.

You can buy off North Korea. That’s pretty much been the way Washington has dealt with them the last 30 years.

True, though judging by the increasing Chinese concern that might be wearing thin.
