With the Ashes over, thought it may be a good time to start this years' thread

With the ODI's due to start on Sunday , hopefully the influx of new players will invigorate the squad

Jos has looked in good touch in the Big Bash so a series winning performance is hoped for from him

Eh, this should probably be moved, but welcome!

I don't follow cricket but why is a game that can't be played in the rain so popular in a country where it rains so much?  Or is it just an excuse for posh people to get smashed on Pimm's?

That's Rugby Union and tennis you're thinking of.

Cricket has the widest mix of classes playing than any other sport (in the UK). Of course it has a strong connection to the public schools but has just as strong a tie to the mines and cotton mills. Compare that to Rugby Union which was deliberately kept amateur to exclude certain members of the community.

In short, cricket as a posh sport is a fallacy.
