Marlowe
If you are seriously interested have a look on QWANT or Google for PSC (Personal Service Company) methods of contracting professional services. Everybody will hate you if you go down that route and publish the results on P & B so be prepared for the f***ing Know-it-alls. (Just saying - beware IR45 wallahs) https://www.nixonwilliams.com/free-resources/starting-up/personal-service-company

They won't give you an "accurate" explanation. They will give you their version, especially about what constitutes a 'professional' player. Eufa on their website states clearly what a professional player is and the SFA/SJFA should be conforming to the Eufa definition, but don't. So you have two questions. One, is a player signed as a professional player? Two, is he paid as a professional player? Can you have one without the other? Discuss! So someone on the books of Muirkirk signs the same contract form as Craig Gordon or Allan McGregor.

There is a space on the contract for the amount of renumeration, whether that says a quid ,60 quid or 60 grand a week is immaterial as the amount is agreed between the player and the club. I know players who have signed professional forms and played for nothing more than expenses because they only wanted to be able to tell their mates that they were a Professional football player and not an Amateur one
