Applications from 4 Highland League sides and 2 clubs from the south of Scotland, all with good set ups and histories, and a great opportunity to open up Scottish league football to a wider area of the country. In a characteristic act of self-interest from the majority of the 37 clubs, who presumably don't want the inconvenience and cost of travelling to the Highlands or south of Scotland, they vote in favour of a works team from Edinburgh becoming the new club in the league. No social media then of course but the Dundee fans tantrums were a joy to behold when little Saints signed their hero.
