Dundee United v ICT 20/10/2108

Recommended Posts

First home game under the new regime and a tough one at that.

Based on the reports of McMullan's performance against Partick Thistle it would be unfair to drop him.  Maybe Murdoch at RB and Watson in place of Frans?  Otherwise just as was for our last game.

Ross County showed what could happen when we meet quality opposition so this should be an early test of Neilson's organisational skills.

Hopefully we will have a decent home support now that Lazslo has departed.

Don’t think you can justify dropping Frans tbh, he was unspectacular but fine against Thistle and their goal came from a rush of blood to the head from Bouhenna, who up until then was good.
Watson was fine at RB and I don’t think anyone should be making way for Murdoch. Only defender that concerns me is booth and I’d still rather him than Robson.

Someone just needs to tell Booth to stop running directly at the opposition with the ball at his feet. Not sure whether he thinks he can muscle his way through or whether he's trying to beat his opponent for skill but he invariably loses the ball. Such an odd and glaring error. Knock it past the opponent or lay it off and look for the return. Both perfectly acceptable strategies. Run directly into the opponent, not so much.

I posted before the County game that it would a far sterner test than any game up to then; I think this falls into the same category.

Watson is not a RB and even though Murdoch isn’t either he is better in that position.  I think Watson is a decent player and don’t want him losing confidence of performing poorly in a role he’s not suited to.

There’s an argument to sticking with the same team but I imagine ICT will be far tougher opponents than Patrick Thistle and we need to keep the defence as tight as possible.

Fair enough, I see your points.
I just have such little faith in murdoch now that I’d rather see Watson play out of position there.
Ideally wardrop would have made that position his own but he doesn’t seem to be the player he was billed as, probably fairly telling that he wasn’t on the bench on Saturday.

Can the title be changed to (relegation threatened) ICT?

Perhaps UNBEATEN ICT would be more apt or AWAYSPECIALISTS ICT - If the Dark Side can score five then it could be double figures.

Forgot all about Wardrop.  What has happened to him?

Hopefully a decent crowd turn up on Saturday, now that we don’t have a complete trumpet in charge of the team.

After Neilson’s appointment and given the win last week, in which we actually looked quite decent for a good spell of the match,  I am predicting going from about 4,500 apathetic Arabs last home game, (almost as bad as an average Dee’s home gate), to just over 6000 for this one.

As for the game, if we can win it, it will make a big statement in terms of improvement and what chance we have of actually getting somewhere this year imo.

We can’t afford to spend 6 weeks gelling under the new regime so scraping a 2-1* and starting to put a wee winning run together,  will do me just fine, and this is my prediction.

Safranko with the  winning goal, and Stanton to put us on our way.

*I’d say scraping a 1-0, but we dinna dae clean sheets.

If Shabba had still been in charge I'd have felt pretty confident about getting something but with a new (competent) manager in charge I'll be happy with (another) draw.

If we can keep organised and hold it together defensively then id be confident of a win.

The keeper situation really dosent fill me with confidence though.

Buuuut as we have some good attacking options I forsee a high scoring home win.

3-2  the Tangerine Juggernaut.

Someone on CTO has just started a thread suggesting, apparently seriously, that we offer Usain Bolt a trial. If we could just swing that by this weekend, I'm confident that the combined athleticism of Bolt and Jordan White up front would be enough to see off this mob. Might sell a few extra bobble hats too.

Same team for Aswell only question mark would be right back spot, but no one really to actually put in unless u put murdoch in but think that’s unlikely especially with how dangerous Watson is from set pieces! Aird king and mcmullan all interchanging again, was a joy to watch on sat

So

Benj
Watson bouhenna frans booth
Fyvie Stanton
King mcmullan Aird
Safranko

3-1 united

He's a doddery, befuddled old coot.

Your only two contributions to this thread are about a typo.

That said the game isn't generating much interest on here from either set of fans which is a bit surprising.
