If you've been supporting Thistle for all of those years, you'll be struggling to think of a time when a managerial change worked out for the best. Lambie to Collins to Whyte/Britton led to the worst football at Firhill and a period which is blamed for driving away so many regular fans. So i'd be very very careful what you wish for because we are in real danger of crippling the club for a decade. This is also bigger than just Thistle. There's a whole new dynamic opened up in the league now. Dundee Utd have a new manager. Who says it will work out? If Ross County start looking for a new manager. Who says that will work out? It was a time for cool heads. Not arbitrary decisions about how many games Archie had left. A route that has been disaster in the past. It's the same people as last season . And the season before that too. Lambie left of his own choice with the lure of money to spend, only for that to go wrong for him. McNamara put together the team that got us up in the first place, despite that he has become a hated figure because he went to the poisoned chalice that is Dundee United with the promise of money to spend as well as a cut on transfer fees from players the sold. Archie did well for a while, then ran out of ideas and signed duds, it needed changed and hopefully it’s not too late for this season.I think there is a bit of history rewriting going on here. I don’t recall anybody having a go at McNamarra going to Dundee Utd. Mediocre Pundit Posted October 9, 2018 Share Posted October 9, 2018 I’m sad that Archie has gone but it was overdue - still a club legend but it was clear things had gone wrong and he was proving unable to turn it around. We’ve had the same weaknesses for almost two years now across three separate squads. That said, not many managers last as long as 6 years in the first place so in all he did pretty well.How anyone can say he should have been given even MORE time is baffling.
