Ayr Utd vs Dundee Utd

Recommended Posts

Don’t think I’ve ever gone into a game against Dundee United thinking we could win but I’m pretty confident for this one.

A win here for us would further consolidate our play off place and might be the final nail in Csaba’s coffin (if he’s not sacked beforehand).

He should be gone long before the weekend, if he is still in place the competence of the board is zero.

At this point in time I expect a comfortable home win.

The question is can you guys afford to sack him I'd guess he's on a very good wage.

That is a good question, however I have no idea what sort of salary he is one and don't wish to have a guess.

Would any pay off not be a %  of what is left on his contract rather than paid off in full.

Still expect a tough  game despite Dundee Utds woes at the moment. QOS wasn't that long ago so don't want to get too carried away with the predictions. Be interesting to see if Moore & McDaid start considering how well they were  supposed to have played today. Be really  harsh to put them on the bench after performing today

Normally in football when you sack a manager you keep paying him until his contact ends, he gets a new job or you pay a lump sum, football's a weird job, if i was shit at my job I'd just get my badge taken and escorted out the building nobody would be paying my contact up.

I was not sure how the compensation worked for a sacked manager, so thank you for your explanation.

I think for the first time I’d be happy for Moore to come in for Moffat. Moore and Shankland worked together really well today so I’d be tempted to play both and put Moffat on the bench. I’d also drop Crawford and put Forrest in and keep McDaid where he is. No idea who’ll play between Bell and Adams and who’ll play alongside Murdoch although I’d like to think it’ll be Kerr.

Drop Kerr play Crawford beside murdoch and play Mcdaid and Forrest wide!

I like Kerr but that midfield would be a hell of a force

Kerr has to play imo, we gave away the ball too much today and Kerr just doesn’t do that

This

The game was so frantic in the first half and for the majority of the second half. Murdoch was the only one who got his foot on the ball and tried to calm things down but even then seemed very rushed to keep the play going. Kerr can be surrounded by 2 or 3 players at times and still be able to pick out a pass 20 yards away without lifting his head up.

I think Crawford could do with maybe one or two games out the team. Imo he’s not looked at his best since the Dundee cup game and with Forrest in good form and McDaid doing well today McCall can’t really justify not playing them.

Team for me
Dohaan
Smith Bell Rose Harvie
Geggan Kerr Murdoch McDaid
Shankland Moffat or Moore

Robbie needs a wee rest, Kerr just brings that calmness and a bit of class to the midfield, Geggan can play that right midfield role he did so expertly against Raith last season, up front is the difficult one Shanks and Moore at last showed signs of being able to play together in the last 20 min yesterday and I love Moore to bits but Moffat is so good at linking the midfield won't be to disappointed what one of them starts.

2-0 Ayr, Shankland and McDaid with the goals
Can't believe I'm confidentially predicting a comfortable win against Dundee United.

I'm really at the point where I'll just take whatever team the manager puts on the field, yesterday we dropped the 2 midfielders who've performed best of the midfielders in recent weeks and we got the result, he takes Moffat off and my head is saying wtf, can't remember how that change went yesterday.

If Ayr pass the ball to whomever is playing on the right wing, they'll win the game.

tbh, if we consistently pass the ball to Ayr players then we'll have a good chance  of a victory.

I hate to be the voice of reason, but our midfield was actually pretty poor for large parts of the game yesterday.  I was losing the head a bit when McCall brought on McGuffie and Moore as it was obvious we needed Kerr in the middle of the park to put his foot on the ball.  No doubt we benefitted from the injuries to Morton’s midfield - the goal rush came out of nowhere if we’re being honest.  So for me, Kerr has to start next week.  Moffat v Moore is a toughie - moffat struggled yesterday mainly because the service to him from the midfield was so poor.  Bell v Adams is more clear cut - Adams is an honest big lump, but Bell is the better centre back.

Doohan

Smith Bell Rose Harvie

McDaid Murdoch Kerr Forrest

Moore Shankland

Subs: Hare-Reid, Geggan, Adams, Docherty, Crawford, McGuffie, Moffat

Would bring Kerr and Forrest in for Geggan and Crawford and Moore for Moffat. Guys like McDaid, Forrest and Moore will be eager to play and impress. Possibly go with Geggan over Forrest, just depends how attacking we want to go. Quietly optomistic, however Dundee Utd could still cause us problems. Need to continue making Somerset a hard place to go.

2-1 Ayr, Shankland and Moore

Guys like Kerr and Moffat are likely to perform better playing 30 games in the season rather than 40, so the manager needs to pick and choose the best moments to give them a break. That said, Saturday seems to me like one of those games where he needs to put out his strongest team.

We 100% need our strongest and most consistent line up for this game.

I'm sorry, but Moffat must start and Moore on the bench.

Switch it up again if need be.

Kerr back in too.

I'd also have McDaid in for Robbie.

Bell / Captain Marvellous? Not bothered, either or.

What a problem to have though?

Keep thinking I'm going to wake up and I'm standing at Arbroath on a baltic November afternoon.
