I've sometimes felt that people have been overly harsh on McInnes in terms of the way they've approached games against Rangers and Celtic in the past - they've sometimes competed well in games and then lost, for example the 2017 Scottish Cup final. However, today's performance here has been embarrassing. Their entire gameplan seems to be to hope that Rangers don't score in 120 minutes of football. Fair enough it worked for him in the quarter against Hibs, but it is asking a lot to rely on your defenders to win every ball into the box and cut out every cross.

You could justify it if their defence was solid enough that Rangers were creating nothing, but they're just riding their luck with Rangers wasting good positions several times in this half. Which you can't really blame the defence for here with the number of attacks they've had to deal with due to the absence of a midfield worthy of the name in front of them.

At least for the last five minutes or so they've actually got out and had some possession in Rangers' half though.

Do they have the players to play another way? Are they being passive or have they been pushed back? Can they not get the ball out because their forward is lazy?

Two teams who are supposedly vying to be the second best in the country behind Celtic and they're both absolutely pish, barely able to play a decent pass or control a ball at times.

Shinnie has been posted missing - it's his job to protect the back four.
