We'd definitely have qualified out of the group stages of Italia 90 if Roddy Grant had been there.

Good point.  Revisionism can't be beaten.    I can't help but think that the late Harry Kane goal  wouldn't have mattered if Chris Kane had been playing instead of Griffiths.

Alan Main made the squad a few times but had the likes of Andy Goram, Jim Leighton, Neil Sullivan, Jon Gould, Craig Gordon, Rab Douglas ahead of him.

He's the only one of the players listed by the OP who was unlucky not to get a cap, on the basis that somebody who rocks up to 10 or so squads normally gets a go in a friendly somewhere down the line.

Ffs, fair enough with the lads who got caps after leaving saints as well as Dave Mackay, he should've been in at least a couple of squads. The rest? Not for me.

Yeah Mackay was widely regarded as the best Scottish right back in the top flight for a good few years, we ended up calling up the likes of Paul Caddis instead

Yeah, he probably should have got a cap at some point. Especially when you consider that we weren't exactly blessed with talent in the goalkeeping department and were giving the likes of Paul Gallagher caps.

Why would a scotland manager call up players who play in the Championship?

Just checked and theyve been in the top league for 10 years. Just the sort of club that you arent quite sure what league they play on from season to season, maybe this explains Scoyland managers' reticence to call up Allan Main and Callum Davidson. Either that or they are mediocre.

What an utter roaster, players often go to a bigger club or better league and therefor become better players because of it. Van Dijk became more of a regular in the dutch team/squad after leaving Celtic because he went to an infinitely better league.

I can remember some saints fans moaning about Fraser Wright not getting a look in years ago, an absolute carthorse  of a player at any level above the Scottish premiership which is why he never went above saints.

What is it with these entitled teuchter teams, is it cause you're in the middle of nowhere so have no basis for perspective? Steven Milne and Dave Mackay hahahahaha

Not the middle of nowhere; more the middle of 'go there!'

One life.    One shire.

We finished in the top four about five years in a row, if you weren't sure what league we were in, it says more about you than the club.

Literally nobody ever seriously claimed Frazer Wright should get capped. Again, if you've believed anyone who said that, it probably says more about you than them.

You've made that up. I can't remember a single St Johnstone supporter tipping Frazer Wright for the Scotland squad. He's a cult hero and much missed, but that's a different issue entirely.
