Betfred Semi-Finals

All private bus hires from Aberdeen have been instructed by the police that they are not allowed to stop at any pubs before or after the game. They have to take you straight to hampden and take you straight home after.

The midday kick off, the above advice suggests police Scotland’s plan is to keep Aberdeen fans out of the city centre at all costs and basically just ensuring a piss poor experience for everyone involved.

Get everyone to go in disguise as pensioners and pretend you're out for an old dears' day trip.

FWIW, I don't think we'll see the violence some are expecting.

Listened to most of Ann Budge's lengthy interview in Sportsound earlier. She covered a lot of ground but a few points remain confusing: and not just the point about the Irish ferries (or why on leaving the meeting she was quoted as saying it had been "positive" with just a "couple of details to iron out").

Firstly: the police saying Hearts v Celtic SF can't be the following weekend if SPFL could want to move Celtic v Hearts league game forward a week. If this is because it would mean 2 games in Glasgow on the same day: that's happening anyway? Except massively more Hearts fans would like to travel over for a League Cup SF, than would do so for an away league game at Parkhead.

Secondly: why using a different weekend for both SFs wasn't possible. Obviously SPFL made a boob in picking a weekend vulnerable to knock-on effects of EL, but having done so why not use the preceding or following weeks?

Thirdly: the explanation given about why both SFs have to be at Hampden. She said a contract was signed "5 years ago maybe 7" (or similar wording) and that it would have applied even if the SF was Hearts v Aberdeen. In the last 5 to 7 years there has twice been a Hearts v Inverness SF at Easter Road (17,000 and 13,000); an Aberdeen v St Johnstone SF at Tynecastle (17,000 sell-out); a Hibs v St Johnstone SF at Tynecastle (17,000 sell-out); but equally an Aberdeen v Morton SF at Hampden (17,000). So it still isn't clear what exactly the requirements are.

It'd help if these aspects were cleared-up, IMO.

Depending on when the contract was made it might not be valid to the Aberdeen game since it specified 'Rangers' and Rangers died. Sevco are a different club so the contract doesn't apply to them and therefore their semi final can be anywhere.

I think the reason they dont want celtic at home to hearts while rangers v aberdeen is that there's no control over how 50k fans go to parkhead while at the same time the cup semi final would be likely finishing

This way the police will likely have control over how maybe 80% of the fans get to the stadium

You should contact Aberdeen FC with this news mate, then they can inform the spfl that Rangers are now Sevco and the spfl will have to rescind their decision.

Why is the Celtic v Hearts SF moving to the following weekend predicated on the league game being on the 28th?

Surely the whole basis of the idea behind moving the SF to the following week is that it has the least impact, i.e. the two teams in the SF are due to play each other. On the weekend of the 27th, Dundee v Hearts and Celtic v Motherwell would surely go ahead as planned.

And that Celtic v Motherwell game is key here - what would have happened to it had Celtic lost on Wednesday? Are the powers-that-be really suggesting it would have been postponed because of a game neither Celtic nor Motherwell were to be involved in?

In what way does stopping at a pub equate to "getting steaming and starting fights with Sevconians"?

I know you don't get out much (and even less to actually attend football matches) but most normal and rational people quite enjoy going for a beer or bar lunch before heading to the football. Ditto for post match.

Also, let's be honest here, Rangers* fans are generally speaking the ones with behavioural problems.

That's why Police Scotland are attempting to herd them into Hampden then round up the flock and get them straight back up to Dollyville....

For someone so clever you do post some rubbish at times my clever friend.

He’s speaking rubbish because he said people like to go to a bar before the game?

You’re trying too hard these days.
