Kelty are an absolute coupon bombscare in this cup.

Quite interesting ties between the better non league sides as mentioned previously. Would be a decent effort for Talbot to continue their 100%record against HL sides and the Beith v Linlithgow game has a latet round Junior Cup tie feel to it.

Stirling Uni went on to win 2-1 and now face a trip up to Deveronvale. They've done ok against HL opposition so might finally get through to the third round, for what I think would be the first time ever.

Really wanted to see Kelty draw Cowden :( Don't fancy them at Peterhead at all if they can't beat Dalbeattie.

Linlithgow Rose only beating Fort William 3-0 has to be considered a massive upset, seeing as they chuck in 8 or 9 every week seemingly.

Congrats to Rothes on their first ever SC win.

It looks a horror trip for Coldstream, but they'll now have collected into 5 figures in prizemoney over the cup run which will happily fund a hotel the night before. There is also a travel grant. If you get an away tie and it's not v SPFL opposition or someone beatable, a roadtrip is the next best alternative. Better that than someone southerly you already play in the league or local cups.

EDIT: Replays yesterday were Kelty 3-1 Dalbeattie and Civil Service 2-1 Forres. LL went without loss v non-LL; HL went without victory v non-HL, except Deveronvale.

Absolutely gutted to see that we enter in the 4th round. Just makes the cup boring as we'll almost certainly get a dull game against a team we play regularly, and a good chance it'll be one from the same league.

Ooooffftttt.. Brora v Coldstream ...Rothes v Annan Ath  two monster journeys  for borders teams.

Not sure I'd class Rothes v Annan as a "monster journey".  They'll be used to it with Peterhead & Elgin being around the same distance from Annan as Rothes is.

It's fucking pish isn't it.  There's teams Premiership and Championship sides will never play due to the format.  And yep, ICT certainly always get a Premiership (previously fellow Premiership) club away.

The magic of the cup.

Yup. It's just boring. and makes the cup seem like a chore rather than something to look forward to.

What we need is 64 teams all in a hat from the first round proper on the first "normal" Saturday in January (ie January 4th onwards) consisting of the top 32 SPFL clubs and 32 qualifiers. The first half of the season, the SPFL teams should play the league cup and L2/HL/LL/Juniors play a Scottish cup qualifying event to whittle them down to the 32 teams who'd enter the first round proper.

And play at the home venue none of this changing venues for safety quick buck reasons.

So in opening up the cup, you actually dump 2/3 of entrants out of it entirely and into some kind of Scottish Qualifying Cup exhumed from the grave of history? Get that idea into the sea.

I'm all for opening-up the later rounds, but don't do it by rebranding the early rounds as a separate and inferior tournament.

Incidentally the moving grounds issue has apparently been tightened-up after the Albion Rovers, Bonnyrigg, etc. escapades. If a ground is enclosed and has a capacity that's that, supposedly.

That's how the FA cup works, there are about 5 qualifying rounds before the first round proper.
