You have used This phrase “inventing racism” a couple of times.

Tam Cowan didn’t accuse him of inventing it, he accused him of being to quick to call out the perpetrator before all the facts were known(ironically)

He said that Bartley should come on OTB and apologise for saying that someone shouted "f**k you, you black b*****d", when according to Tam's mates it was "f**k you, you fat b*****d.". It's not nice to be told on national radio you need to apologise for being delusional.

You’ve misunderstood the sequence of events.

Whether you did this wilfully or not is the question.

"His Pals" You are now trying to claim that Tam or his pals made something up that was widely reported in the media at the time.

You aren't doing a good job of the picture you are trying to paint here.

Naw.

It’s already been done in several posts on this thread.

You've been here for 8 hours to white knight someone, the least you can do is to filter out the detritus, and present what perceive to be the facts.

To simply question the accuracy of Bartley's call or to disagree with it would've been fine. That's not what Cowan did, though. He instead threw a shitfit over the very nature of antiracism initiatives. He claimed "Dundee Utd" (whatever he meant by that - the fans? The board? The whole intangible entity?) were victim to a huge injustice because an antiracism activist had flagged up a potentially racist insult shouted by a spectator. Cowan framed events in that ridiculous way to try and get Dundee Utd fans all riled up and presumably so they'd go after Bartley, who its speculated Cowan has a grudge against. Dundee Utd fans ignored Cowan because, of course,  nobody actually was implicating them or their club in anything despite Cowan's attempted manipulation. So antiracism efforts became collateral damage in Cowan's pig-headed gunning for Bartley here. Folk won't accept that.

Cowan really didnt do any of that. He pointed out that the initial investigation had not found evidence of racism, as claimed by Bartley, and asked him to apologise. This is not quite undermining anti racist initiatives.

The main problem here is not the message but the messenger. To have Bartley as the SFA equality advisor, when he has a criminal conviction for intimidating behaviour towards a woman, is a fecking horrendous look, even for the SFA, especially when they are supposedly trying to grow womens football. The anti discriminatory message is undermined by who is delivering it.

I fully expect some people on here to now go full in and claim I am some sort of racism apologist, despite abhorring it and calling out other "fans" several times for racism, the fact I even need to say that on here is ridiculous. The wider point, and I think this thread proves it, is that to some fans mysogyny is somehow acceptable - "stop dragging things up from the past" as one poster said.

Defending Bartley is like defending Jimmy Savile because he raised lots of money for charity.

Cowan posted Pinocchio emojis referencing Bartley. If that’s not accusing him of inventing things, then what is?

Aye, that'll sort it, drag out dirt from the past that merited a £400 fine. He was asking for it.

Aye okay but Tam Cowan is the devil because information available at the time led him to wrongly call Bartley out. Bartley, who was actually in the wrong too for blaming Dundee Utd fans if I remember right (and as mentioned above) - and who is someone recently named in an employment tribunal for telling inaccuracies around another alleged racist shout. Cowan was an arse, Bartley also seems to be an arse, racism is obviously abhorrent. But then so is overlooking something pretty nasty because it only involved a £400 fine.

It's not overlooking it, but it's standard practice to dig up dirt from somebody's past to make out whatever they're saying isn't worth bothering about.

I am not on Instagram and If I was, I wouldn't follow either Tam Cowan or Marvin Bartley

Bartley posted that on Twitter also. The screen grabs you posted were not all of them.
