Two middle aged fuds going full carry on movie about a young womans twitching sphincter has to be a new low point for this  programme.

Connie McLaughlin did seem a little taken aback when they used that term, but there was clearly nothing sexualised about their comments. They would use the same terminology talking to a male guest and have done in the past.

Tam Cowan is utterly tedious, I had the show on in the background and it's just repeated references that those in their 60s would find out of date. Mentions of Phil Cool doing impressions of Rolf Harris as the show finishes underlines just how out of touch the man is.

Listened to some of this for the first time in ages yesterday lunchtime, and it really is poor.

Its almost as if they're seeing how dreadful they can get away with being before the plug is pulled.

The chat about how Celtic choose the 1000 fans to go to the game for ages.. who fucking cares, have a ballot?  Then both being affronted when a listener suggested Celtic shouldn't get the first game when one of their players broke the rules around covid.

But f**k me the cultural references. Live at the palladium or some shite from the1970's, frank spencer..

It's been great, but it's had its time. Stuart and Tam are on a free ticket here, move them aside and get fresh presenters on the show.

It's a captive audience at that time, with folk usually heading to a match. Definitely don't want more of the slavering fuckwits from sportsound talking for hours longer though, it feels like they're on far too long as it is.

Tam lives in his own wee time warp. Most football fans are too young to have a clue to whom he is referring to and of those that do know they are in wonderment on how people like Les Dennis deserves the accolades provided by Tam. Tam is not relevant to younger, or many older, generations in his TV, personality and musical tastes. Listening to Tam is more like listening and smiling at your great grandmother who has dementia.

Stuart at least has some street cred and is aware of today as possessed to Tam's 1980's bubble. Time for Tam to do spend his Saturdays on watching his box sets of  Royal Variety Performances.

You see, he'd take that as some sort of badge of honour. Just like Trump deplorables justify their actions based on it being negatively received by others. His "ye cannae change history" comment regarding Rolf Harris is just symptom of someone who is seriously out of step with modern society. It's not because Harris is "unfashionable" or from a different era that mentioning him is "not a good thing".

Cowan seems like the sort of person who would laugh off people's dislike for things like the Black and White Minstrel show, or a Bernard Manning set on The Comedians, as being "woke" or a "snowflake", when in fact these were vile and hateful institutions.

I'm pretty sure Tam's got a mental conveyor belt model of people's tastes that goes, for music, something along the lines of 'Teenagers like whatever's in the pop charts, thirty year olds like Bill Haley or Motown, fifty-year olds listen to Sidney Devine, Seventy-year olds and older like Vera Lynn and Gracie Fields'. He's trying to aim his schtick at what he sees as an older demographic, and gets it wrong because he thinks that they're the same older demographic that was around when he was a teenager. He's not taken into account that teenagers who grew up listening to the Sex Pistols or the Smiths and sneering at whatever their parents listened to won't be listening to Sidney Devine or whoever; their tastes change over time, but will be informed by what they listened to when they were younger, not by what their ancestors liked when they were the same age they are now. That goes ten times over for the teenagers now listening to Taylor Swift or Billie Eilish or whatever it is that the kids listen to these days.

It does kindof suggest that Cowans actual tastes aren't entirely genuine but part of an act - he's trying to make the sorts of references he thinks a fifty to sixty year old should be making and getting, but missing the mark by miles, because he's playing the role of a fifty-year old in the eighties, rather than actually being a fifty-year old in 2020

According to Tam Cowan 'you can't do anything these days/can't get away with anything these days'.

They both reckon supporters buses are done for due to social distancing. Have they not seen actual buses recently? Fire on a mask and you'll be fine. Of course folk will take them off during the journey but as long as masks are on whenever police stop them there won't be an issue.

The only time that Montrose normally have segregation is when Arbroath visit. Didn’t realise that they had it in place for Airdrie as well.

They segregate when Clyde visit as well, or did last season at least.

Should we be in any way surprised that when offered a pair of Dr Martens he actively chose the shoes, then black polished out the yellow stitching because, "you'd get a good shine on 'em for going to the boys brigade on a Friday night". I mean if that doesn't sum up the man's tastes and experiences then nothing will.

The Saturday show is fast becoming unlistenable. So much arse sooking of Celtic and Sevco. Every reference needs to be about them. Every team of the day always starts with players from them.

The Sunday show is much better. It feels much more laid back and is noticeably significantly less sycophantic to Sevco and Celtic.
